I'm annoyed for fooling myself into thinking that we were building toward an extended period of success. But it now looks the national draft will be the highlight of the year for some time to come.
This is logical, but we play to win, and haven't done so in a month. It's good for them to feel good playing together, and great for Heeney to impact winning, ultimately.

You might have noticed that I haven't been critical of any player or our coaching today. If I were a player, I wouldn't feel comfortable with this hollow victory.

I know injuries have taken a big toll and we lost another tall player in Ladhams today. We are missing so many KPPs, it may be too difficult to patch things up this year. And the lasting toll of these injuries is not at all clear.

We could have a run of good luck and turn things around quickly. We can only hope. Right now, it's too deep to analyze. We can only wait and see what fate has in store for us the rest of the season.

You know I look at the Swans as a total package: our senior side, the VFL side and our list management. Right now, everything has gone sour. Our VFL side hasn't won a game this year and many of the list management decisions we've made are haunting.

We've been hit by Maxwell's Silver Hammer. And it came as a big surprise.

Sorry to all for being such a downer.

We have such a long injury list that it's no surprise we are playing like a bottom four side, had little right to snatch that today.

A handful of bright spots, albeit against a bottom two side, Parker was huge, Errol made a few errors but he is top shelf, Warner looked better today, McAndrew looks a keeper.

Other games went our way and we rose up the table but highly unlikely to play finals. Drafting this year could be the most critical ever for us.

Staggeringly Carlton are $1.94 against us next week, I took a slab of those odds but I'm ok about losing my stake if we can knock off the Blues, just for the giggles!

I have reflected a fair bit on Kinnear recently.

Chad Warner at 39 in 2019 was a sensational pick. The 2020 class is between excellent and outstanding. It's looking a bit ropey since, but still earlyish for this year.

Carlton have an away game off a five day break, which seems a little harsh.

Stephens over Serong will always be a huge blemish for KB.
A die hard interstate Swan that would have been easy to convince to stay.

Got too smart and looks a fool for that one.

Not to mention he picked a kid that wasnt even rated top 10.

Bypass a top 10, Swans supporter for a kid not even rated top 10, huge mistake

According to Kane Cornes on TRSF, North committed a second interchange violation and we should have received another free and 50m penalty from the centre square. This would have put the Swans player 30m out having the shot for goal. It might have been McAndrew kicking, but they could have run the clock down in that time.
Although I didn’t particularly feel sorry for North, if you’re that dumb as to do the same thing AGAIN, you get what’s coming.

Perhaps he should have picked Chad Warner as pick 5 instead of Stevenson rather than risking him to still be there at pick 39.

I know who I would prefer to have between Serong and Warner.

At the time the club had identified a need for outside speed, but as many have said before, recruiting is not an exact science, however I have to agree with pick 5 you would have expected more from Stephens.

Looking back at pick 5 over the years there have been some great players, but there have also been some huge busts

Good post. Also, not giving up on Stevens yet...looking at our centre square failures, could do with the speed and spread North showed

Stephens showed last year he could make it. Like so many others, he’s not shown the same form this year, but he may yet come good. A team on song around him would probably allow him to shine again. McInerney is one who’s just starting to show his natural abilities again in the last few of weeks. We’re pretty impatient with young players on this forum, their form fluctuates at the best of times, and we don’t know for sure what niggles, and likely illness, many might be carrying.

                            Re possible 77th interchange breach;

Part of the relevant regulation says “the Player entering the Playing Surface once the Interchange Cap is reached will be ordered to immediately leave the Playing Surface by the Umpire”.

So it was correct for Power (who was the 76th “culprit”) to come off again.

Arguably he should have been replaced by Phillips (his “co-culprit” in the 76th breach). However it was Shiels who went back on (who had come off as the 75th interchange).

However the regulation doesn’t actually specify who should come on when the 76th is ordered to leave (an oversight I suspect). So I think North Melbourne can argue they did what was required in taking Power off.

Well, no, Cal Twomey had Serong going at 8 and Stephens at 9. Oddly, he had us taking Flanders at 5.

While Rookie Me had Stephens ranked at 7, and the best outside mid of the draft.
