MATCH REVIEW: Sydney Swans co-captain Dane Rampe banned for off-the-ball hit on Lachlan McNeil

This is a bit of a bummer, particularly coming out of the blue. I didn't notice anything at the game, and I guess the fact it wasn't captured clearly on the coverage is why the media hadn't highlighted it. It's particularly unfortunate, team wise, given we've just lost Melican too.

      Yes, bummer.

Perhaps Francis for Melican and Fox to resume key back duties, particularly with Lloyd returning.

It’s hard to tell much from the video, but how could that be high impact when McNeill played out the game?

Even with Lloyd and Francis in, that still means we'll probably need to use both Clarke and Warner in the team next week, and they both struggled for impact. I'd hoped maybe Corey could be relegated to sub, where he might be able to have a fresh-leg impact.

Literally no-one put their hand up for promotion in today's awful display on Lakeside Oval. Buller was the only one to come out of that game able to hold his head high, and we don't need a tall forward (at this stage, at least).

Maybe we can cross our fingers that Chad will be ready to return, but it doesn't sound likely.

That is a bit of a puzzler. Not sure if they have better footage than has been provided to us, but it's impossible to tell anything from that vision.

Wow, where did that ban come from? Can’t tell anything from the video, does the MRO have clearer footage we don’t see?

Was McNeil attended to by trainers? Or go off for HIA? Otherwise high impact grading must be entirely on potential impact.

Wonder if Bulldogs were approached for comment/explanation on what happened ...

Agree that Gulden runs risk of negative media attention which will then fuel opposition fans booing.

I’m also concerned that on some occasion Gulden will get a self-inflicted concussion. He appeared slightly dazed after the incident last night.

Unfortunately he has probably been doing this action through his junior footy years and it’s now built into his muscle memory. He has to get rid of it though.

& seemed to get up (albeit slowly) clutching his tummy?

You’d hope they have more damning footage than what we can see.

I figure Melican, Rampe, Buddy and Warner out.

Francis, Lloyd, Ladhams and Buller in. McLean to play defence, manning up on Jackson; Roberts the sub.

I too was surprised by the scant contribution from Warner, who did look okay the few times he was involved in the play.

Maybe Rampe will get off and McNeil will be charged with staging. But we may need to stack the tribunal with RWOers.

Is this our penance for finally winning a free kick count against the dogs?

                      Honestly, two weeks for that?

I’m still perplexed by the suspension offered to Parker - and likewise I don’t remember Rampe ever being suspended?

Don't tell me this wouldn't make a great concussion prevention helmet. You'd be lying.

Buddy mentioned looking forward to the Fremantle game in his post game interview on the telecast. He'll be busting to travel with the guys for a must-win high pressure game. Nine day break. I think he'll play.

It's a real downer after the high of last night. Strange one. Seems ridiculous that it is only one week less than Nankervis.

Jon Ralph tweeted that McNeil suffered delayed concussion but Swans might challenge asking whether McNeil’s concussion was caused by this incident

Roberts looked today like a player who hasn't played for a few months and maybe is still a bit sore. Back to the slow, indecisive Roberts that we saw most of last year (with a few good games interspersed). He would be worse that playing one down at the moment.

McLean ain't playing defence any time soon.

It was Ladham's first game back after a moderate break. He wasn't awful but nor did he look remotely ready to resume senior footy next week.
