It's a sporting tribunal, where the penalty is a couple of weeks' suspension, not a criminal trial with a potential jail sentence at the end.

That said, there are criminal trials where this level of circumstantial evidence is sufficient to get someone convicted. If the AFL presents evidence from the Dogs' doctor that McNeill is, indeed, suffering from concussion, and they show video footage of Rampe initiating contact with McNeill with either video evidence of a head clash or testimony from McNeill that there was a head clash in that incident, I don't think the tribunal would deliberate for long. It won't be enough for the Swans to say "but he might have got another head knock". They'd need to present evidence of another head knock during the game (and hope it wasn't caused by another potentially reportable incident). Even then the tribunal might not be convinced. I don't know if they explicitly state what degree of proof is required, but I suspect it's closer to "on the balance of probabilities" than "beyond all reasonable doubt".

Apparently we are appealing the Rampe suspension. Feels like a waste of money to me as I reckon we have a snowflakes chance in hell they reverse the decision.

If David Zita is correct, this seems, on publicly available evidence, a difficult task:

        https://twitter.com/DavidZita1...?t=...uCA6hme0A&s=19.

It's hard to tell from the footage, but for Rampe to 'prove there was no election to bump or that contact was caused by circumstances that couldn’t be reasonably foreseen', the argument would seemingly have to be something like:
        - he was veering in to contest the play; and
        - the opportunity to contest the play ended at the point of impact, which was also when the ball was kicked over his head.

Just watched the last quarter again. One thing I missed on the night was how good a surge Heeney and Paps put on for our final goal with five to go. The stoppage and ball up is at their f50 arc. Heeney is on the Bont at the contest, and Paps no more than five metres forward of the contest.

When Parker kicks clear of the chaos, and Hayward marks on the wing, Heeney runs by for the handball and has already put five metres on the Bont. Just pure power running, and then kicks beautifully to Paps who’s made his way down to almost the top of the goal square.

That sort of pure gut running has often been absent this year, mainly because of injuries and lack of training I suspect - but it’s a mammoth part of the margins needed in AFL. Hearing Horse talk post match about Paps broken ribs and lack of training early in the season explains a bit. I suspect Paps wasn’t the only one.

Let’s hope we get a good preseason and injuries are kind to us, as the capacity for surge running is essential to success.

I suspect Dane is toast. The AFL have even invented a new medical diagnosis, "delayed concussion". It used to be called
"having a headache after the game".

I get what you are saying now but "a week more than 2" equals three if you get my drift. You're wording was a bit misleading.

In that we are the Swans?

The Swans used this ‘invented’ medical diagnosis themselves earlier this season for Tom Hickey.

                    “Tom Hickey

Tom reported delayed concussion symptoms following the game against Fremantle. He will not play against North Melbourne and will be managed as per AFL Concussion Guidelines.”

Mrs Tigers is medical and she maintains "general soreness" is yet to be topped when it comes to AFL medical diagnosis.

True. Though not known to lead to a suspension for an opposing player.

What about "Managed". Roughly means he has been dropped but we don't want the public and the opposition teams to know, and we don't want to dent his ego. I would rather they call it general soreness.

The AFL media seem to have realised that Errol is a damn fine player.

                              Nico,
Not necessarily. All clubs do it with senior players or those that have returned from injury. This is very much the case with Armartey, and Longmire has stated numerous times that they would

Longmire said a number of times they would have liked to do this more with Buddy, but injuries to other players forced them to continue to play him
If you recall Geelong won a premiership last year by doing exactly this
