Ten News Perth reports that Darcy will miss: https://twitter.com/10NewsFirstPER/s...pPoNWC42w&s=19
The AFL’s Sam Bird asked Rampe whether McNeil was really a “realistic option” for the man with the ball to kick to in the moment.
“It absolutely was a realistic option,” Rampe said.
“The pass doesn’t go there, does it?” Bird asked.
“Because I did my job,” Rampe responded.Comment

Take two:
Out: Melican, Corey
In: Lloyd, Chad
Sub: Dyl or Corey
Great to see Ramps is free to play- sometimes the tribunal does get it right!
Hoping The Chad is fit as we need him in the middle especially on a big ground.
I think big Tom is still a chance but neither McLean or Amartey deserve to be dropped and if Darcy doesn’t play we will stick with the same combo as last week.
It will be tough over there but we’re the better team????Comment

Ok here goes:
Out: Rampe, Melican, Wicks
In: Francis, Lloyd, Chad if fit, otherwise Hickey.
Sub: Dyl
I know many won’t agree with dropping Wicks before Corey, as he was reasonably ok. However we need to play Corey as his ceiling is higher and I consider Wicks to be no more than VFL level- same with Clarke. Both are ok for depth but shouldn’t be regulars if we’re serious- neither would get into a top 4 side, so what are we trying to prove by selecting them?Comment

I'm both touched that you remembered, and impressed by your ambition to have the world spin the other way by the weekend. Just in case you don't have the physics worked out in time, I've amended the title of the thread. But if you have a breakthrough, let me know and I can change it back!Comment

Reasonably ok? Try played very well and destroyed Bailey Dale after half time. I also get to talk to swans coaches and staff pretty regularly and I assure you not one of them thinks he is only VFL level. I was in the change rooms immediately after the game and his team mates and coaches were all over him. In addition to his defensive work, tackling and structural play his contested ball wins and quick usage is elite. Further he is honing his aggression and playing on the edge even better. I think you have a set against him. Or you don't know what you are talking about.
Personally I think his best is good enough I have concerns about his temperament spilling over when he gets frustrated. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

You clearly have an insight to the club and he is asked to do a job that most of us are probably unaware of.
I think RR opinion is similar to most on here, if Wicks was available end of year, is would be less then 50/50 that he gets another club. That is VFL level.
Im hoping Konstanty, Warner pass him over the preseason.Comment

Wicks is definitely useful...........but there is a fair river that flows between gun VFL and gun AFL
in all the games i have watched of Wicks i see a player also on the edge of the best 22 in the AFL team...........not a mainstay
I think the description in his profile "outstanding awareness around goal" is a little up there......dont you think vs the best in the comp around goal........who truly are outstanding !
But he is rugged and only 23yrs of age and could really take off if he starts nailing his goals after he creates turnovers
ie goal assist and or goals himself
the other parts of his game a fairly dependable"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Oh and ask Tom Papley if he likes playing with him? You bet he does because whilst Wicks looks after the defensive business Paps is off the chain with a license to go anywhere.Comment

Castana from Richmond played in 3 Richmond premierships whilst never being this mythical elite unicorn you keep looking for. Both he and Wicks have a specialty that is valuable. If you look at their stat averages they are very similar. Corey Warner does not have that speciality, ie that of a the tough small defensive pressure forward. Hence his ceiling might be higher but teams will still play guys like Castana and Wicks in that role. I'm sure during Richmonds premiership years they had plenty of guys with higher ceilings than Castanga. Yet they kept playing him. Wicks at his best is without doubt one of the top small pressure forwards in the comp. He has struggled with some injuries, consistency and discipline. It appears those issues are working themselves out now. Provided they stay worked out he will have an important role in the best 23 for some years to come.
