Rnd 21, vs Giants at Giants Stadium, on Saturday 5 August 7:30 PM
I’m in 100% agreeance re: the Clarke selection. Feels like a vote of
no confidence in our other outside mids. Let’s hope Horse has a specific role in mind for young Ryan?
Glad Hickey’s back. He needs to have a big game Saturday
It is still possible that Clarke could be the sub again. I doubt it though.
So the question is, who will get that dubious honour? The listed emergencies are Stephens, Arnold, Corey Warner, Buller.
Stephens? Only if he's being given one last chance and we don't mind a player who tends to waste possessions. I saw part of the VFL match, and several times Stephens got a possession and kicked it to nobody.
Arnold? I would like to see him get a game, but I suspect he's an emergency in case we lose another defender late.
Corey Warner? Has had solid VFL form, but would that translate to the senior side?
Buller? A taller forward could be an interesting choice. Could he make a last-quarter impact and kick a goal or two?
I like the idea of a small forward as a sub. We have tended to run out games later and having a forward as a sub could help out there.
Hall-Kahan? It would be an interesting way to make a debut. We have struggled to score in the last quarter and having a forward as a sub would be worth trying and could give us about two last-quarter goals.
Konstanty? Another untried small forward who could make an impact late in the game.
So my choice would be to give a debut to Hall-Kahan or Konstanty or give Buller another game. If any of them got five last-quarter disposals but kicked two goals, they would surely have more impact than if Stephens got 10 last-quarter disposals but wasted the majority of them.

Very meh selection. Replaced 3 attacking players with 2 nullifiers and a reasonably attacking ruckman. The loss of McInerney has not been addressed. Perfect opportunity for HHK to get a shot as an attacking like for like player. Hard to see where the goals are going to come from.

We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!
Very harsh on Clarke here. The guy is dependable, not prone to doing silly stuff and pops up with the odd goal. I totally
understand why he gets picked. The GWS player that needs to be stopped besides Toby is Coniglio. He has been in brilliant form
all year and barely gets a mention these days.
Not that fussed about the Clarke selection, although I'd prefer to give Stephens a chance
The only thing that bugs me about him is that his disposal and footy smarts are so bad. The amount of time it takes for him to get his boot to ball is so slow, and I don't understand how anyone can reach AFL level without being able to handball properly.
