    [QUOTE=Nico;880860]B: Rampe, McCartin, Lloyd
    HB: Florent, Blakey, Fox
    C: Gulden, Warner, McInerney
    HF: Jordan, McLean, Papley
    F: Parker, McDonald, Heeney
    R: Grundy, Adams, Rowbottom
Int: Sheldrick, Campbell, Buller, Roberts, Cunningham

That's a nice-looking team. I hope that both Sheldrick (and Campbell) enjoy some continuity of selection.
However, for mine, there is no way Hayward is not best 22. Part of leadership group last year. 25 goals, hard match-up, works well up the ground, big favourite of Horse. I've interested in the way in which he and Florent (another Horse favourite) have been developed as between the lines players, adding a kind of fluidity to the structure.
Wicks has also been quite prominent in the coverage coming out of preseason, too.

But I certainly would be happy to see Nico's selection in round 1.

      I’m
I am with you on Logan. He has X factor as does Errol. It’s the little things they do that make a difference.

I am also not giving up on Braiden Campbell either. Such exciting times for the Swans

It doesn't really matter which mids start on the bench. At some stage they will all rotate through the midfield.
If the midfield is firing when Mills comes back, then he will play defence.
Unless Buller can also play defence, I’d have Reid/Melican on the ground, Fox interchange and Buller not in the team at all.

Otherwise Rampe is playing on second tall, and Blakey who is more a rebounder (and I know he has bulked up some in the off season), is going to have to play on the third tall.

Eg against Carlton, we’d have McCartin on McKay, Rampe on Curnow, and then Blakey defending Silvangi’s replacement eg TDK. We’d be undersized.

Same vs Bulldogs, with Naughton, JUH and Lobb, etc.

Was the fullback for WA under 18 side - (after failing to be drafted he stayed on at Claremont, made the seniors amd switched forward and had success) - so not inconceivable, a lot would need to go wrong for him to get a chance in the seniors I reckon

Compared to Nico’s team starting team for R1:

Ins: Almartey, Hayward and Mills (not available til mid season)
Not chosen: Sheldrick, Roberts and Buller

Neither have Wicks or Melican in the side.

The "best 23" was the main reason I linked the article.

Yeah, it's interesting. Third in the Skilton for the past two seasons, but a fair few people seem to regard him as a fringe player. Probably because he's more of a workhorse, who hasn't got the elite pace or polished kicking skills of some the more lauded midfielders.

It'll be interesting to see if he adds a bit more attacking flair to his game this year.
