Really sorry to hear that, Barry. Nevertheless, I sincerely wish you all the best this season, and hopefully many more.

you know when you go for a walk and sometimes a few Swans thoughts pop in.........

I was trying to think over the last two decades is Collingwood the only team to win a GF that didnt have an out and out Key forward that kicked 50 or 60 plus goals in the same season winning the GF

Melbourne had Frisch score about 60 goals in 2021 GF year who is a 188cm ish medium tall

Does that mean the pressure is really back on Heeney to be that 50 plus goal scorer and less pressure on our 3 young talls to be the heroes in 2024?

Are the medium talls making a come back and creating more havoc and space for the traditional Key Forwards?

Papley also had a bad year, bring injured for a large chunk of the start of the season. When he is in AA form (2021) or close to it, we are a genuine contender.

We didn’t have one in 2012. Lewis Jetta was our top goal kicker that season with 46. That’s an impressive tally but he certainly didn’t get them as a power forward.

                    That’s true Liz
                    Forgot that forward line up
                    Goodes got about 40
                    Reid probably half that

So only a few teams in the last two decades that won GFs without genuine FFs / CHFs who scored a stack of goals in that season.

                    So it does happen

Sad to read about the illnesses of Barry and Wolftone. I wish you both all the best, and may the Swans fill you (and the rest of us!) with great satisfaction this year.

Sorry to hear that you both are suffering, I have enjoyed Wolfie's well thought out and expansive offerings about our beloved team and whilst we have had a number of disagreements, I have always been anxious to read Barry's next well meaning but I believe often flawed thoughts on how to improve our lot. (Hoping we can continue these discussion on many more occasions)

And perhaps in a highly surprising development, win the Grannie at a hastily reconfigured Sydney Olympic Park - now that would really be something!

                            Take care mate.

Good omen for the coming season with Tom Papley and Paddy McCartin in the syndicate that won 2YO Race 1 at Randwick today with Getafix trained by John O'Shea. Winning start and I bet all the boys and coaches up at Coffs had a dollar each way and watched the colt win.

A black swan wandered into my front yard the other day. Which has never happened before (that I know of). I'm taking that as a sign.
