This is really concerning to me.
Having been at the SCG on Friday night with 44,000 plus and a great atmosphere, I am wondering whether the time will come that GWS will relocate to the SCG in the hope of building supporter base over the longer term.
It clearly is not working where they are now.Comment

Imagine if the AFL invented Geelong from scratch then allowed them to be based in Frankston. Dead in the water from the get-go. GWS should be sent to Western Sydney rather than trying to be Sydney Swans Lite. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

GWS games always seem lightly attended, not sure there's been much growth in 12/13 years. Crowd size depends on the size of opposition crowd, us and big Vic clubs fill the ground outnumbering the orange folk.
But I'm rapt with our attendances this year :-)Comment

It’s not the ground. It’s the fact that the club is an invention, a plastic organisation based on zero history playing at a place with little geographical relevance to the area it is supposed to represent and draw new supporters. It was originally supposed to be at Blacktown but I think the players rebelled on that one. Without an historical link to the club you can’t expect the people of Greater Western Sydney to travel halfway across the city to watch something that has no sentimental attraction.

The Saints are very ordinary. They certainly drafted the wrong King.Comment

Hey, with St Kilda losing again, in part because their list has hacks like Douglas Howard clogging it up, it seems like a good time to remind everyone of my fave example of “so and so club did lots, so they won trade week.”

Attendance at yesterday's GWS game at Homebush: 7,747 - Inaccurate Bulldogs bite back with Giant upset.
Attendance at the most recent game at Manuka (a Thursday night v Brisbane: 13,080 - Greater Western Sydney Giants overpower Brisbane Lions with second-half demolition.Comment

Bizarrely, long time medium defender, Blake Hardwick, has kicked four goals in the first quarter against Port; although he has played a bit as a forward this year. Slightly less bizarre, Hawthorn lead 38-7.Comment
