It's interesting that not long back teams and media were whinging about Gold Coast picking up 5 academy picks, and apparently they have another 5 this year. So who were the whinging sides. The AFL form is that it has a knee jerk reaction to issues. eg. the recent change to the holding the ball rule.

So much talking without substance.

For all their whinging about GC’s academy haul, the club still hasn’t played finals in their history. There was no whinging at this level when Geelong picked up Scarlett, Ablett or Hawkins under the Father-Son rule, or Collingwood the Daicos brothers. Seems like the whingers are about to shoot themselves in the foot.

It's the Saints that have been whinging the most about Father Sons and Academies because they haven't had any. I heard that most of their past players have had girls. That's true for Lockett and Frawley.
