AFLW Round 8 vs North Melbourne

The coming match against North Melbourne will be a difficult test against the best team in the competition. North Melbourne last lost a game in 2023 when they lost the Grand Final. They have been a strong team since they joined the competition in 2019, losing no more than three games in any season.

In team selection news, Sydney welcomes back Ally Morphett and Sofia Hurley from injury, with Rebecca Privitelli and Darcy Moloney both omitted from the team. TEAM: Morphett, Hurley return (sydneyswans.com.au)

Tanya Hetherington gives her view on the Adelaide loss and the coming match against North Melbourne here: Tanya's Take, presented by Bird in Hand - Round 8 (sydneyswans.com.au)

On the AFL website, none of the tipsters have selected the Swans. This is not surprising; it is not wise to tip against a team that is on a long winning streak. I'm not expecting a win here. If there's a game that North could drop unexpectedly, it is this one or their coming matches against Adelaide and Hawthorn.

    Go Swans.

    Previous matches against North Melbourne:
    2024 s9: North Melbourne 14.3 (87) defeated Sydney 4.3 (27) North Hobart Oval
    2022 s7: North Melbourne 9.13 (67) defeated Sydney 0.1 (1) Punt Road Oval

I expect this match will be closer this time, but I'm not expecting miracles. Getting within 30 points of the North Melbourne juggernaut would be a very good result. Their closest result so far is a 29-point win over Brisbane in the Grand Final rematch.

Wonderful news to have Sofia back in the team, she's been a big loss over the past few weeks. A little disappointing to see Bec dropped again, I thought we looked much better across the ground with a strong leading/marking target pushing up the ground last week (even if she didn't rack up big numbers).

Really looking forward to the game today.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Morphett and Hurley are both important inclusions.
