Are you effin' kidding me?! The equation was simple, beat the 14th team, who have only won three games in this season and you're in the finals. It has to be said, shameful effort by our ladies....and here endeth this season.

Conditions suited to underdog and curtails swans game. When I saw that the game had been delayed and saw the ground conditions i said to my wife, thats it. Also the umpires favour the swans opponents in aflw
with many frees awarded to essendon but not the swans for the same inrignment happens every game.
Ans as for the commentators or specifically Kellie U keeps on calling the swanees, a female swan is not a swanee and nothing sounds worse that ussing that term. Ans obviously always supports the opponents against the swans.Comment

It was disappointing to lose to Essendon by under a goal (again). Due to only having the radio telecast, I cannot comment on the details of the gameplay except where highlights have been posted somewhere.
The ground conditions remind me of St Kilda's keeping the centre of Moorabbin Oval very well watered. The Saints did this to bring opposition teams down to their level. Wet weather takes away a lot of skill and forces players to adapt to a different style of game.
Wet weather football is a game of territory and not possession. It seemed that Essendon handled the conditions far better, especially in the first quarter. Essendon also had a bit of luck on their side with that goal in the last quarter.
Better luck next year. Start by not taking games against bottom-six teams for granted. That is not a time to skip the homework."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

The Sydney Swans are NOT a song by George Gershwin.
If other clubs had to endure this nonsense, the names would be:
Adelaide: Crowies
Brisbane: Lionees
Carlton: Blueys
Collingwood: Maggies
Essendon: Bombies
Fremantle: Dockies
Geelong: Catties
GWS: Gianties
Gold Coast: Sunnies
Hawthorn: Hawkies
Melbourne: Demonies, Dees
North Melbourne: Rooies
Port Adelaide: Poweries
Richmond: Tigeries
St Kilda: Sainties
Western Bulldogs: Doggies
West Coast: Eaglies
A couple are actually used from time to time, (Maggies, Dees, Doggies) but hearing any of them ALL THE TIME in a radio call gets old really fast.

That was so frustrating and disappointing to lose like that, I was certainly calling them worse names than 'Swanees' by the end.
However as other posters have mentioned we are really young (2nd youngest and 2nd least experienced in the AFLW), and so have been inconsistent all year. It's just extra irritating that our worst performances of the year came against crap teams like the Bombies, Collingwood and GWS.
Also our method all year has been at best break even in the contests and then kill them on the outside. However those conditions eliminated our outside game and we couldn't compete on the inside.
Silver Lining: In our last game in the AFL we had 2 players younger than Corey Warner, in our last game in the AFLW we had 9 players younger. They should all get better, with only Kennedy and Privitelli at the other end of the pipeline.Comment
