Was there ever a source for the original "stat"?

He gave an absolute hospital handpass backwards to the 50, as I recall. I think it was aimed at a Sydney player, but it certainly did the target no favours...

Here is the link. Just look up Paul Bevan, described as our number one stopper[/I]

Whilst being tackled by two maggots after he had beaten them to the pill. It was a long clearing handpass against a tackle.

A stat which refers purely to last season, when Crouch, McVeigh and Mathews shared the role. A little different to "no opponent has picked up more that 10 touches in a match and no opponent has kicked more than 2 goals on him", when we are talking about current form.

It is generally agreed his form has been stellar this season and a big improvement on last year! He is described as our number one stopper If that refers to last year then its true in spades this year.

Generally agreed? I'd love to see a poll on here to that effect...

Shutting down an opponent is def his best attribute rather than damaging in attack.
No he doesn't run off his opponent all the time. He is defensive midfielder.

There is a caveat. Amongst unbiased moderately knowledgable footy watchers. The cull on here with that crieria would be savage

Well if he doesnt run off his opponent much his zip wouldnt be wasted down back on williams (who is very quick off the mark) would it

The point i was making was that defensive midfielders which is Jack's role are primarily there to play a defensive game. They run off their opponents when the opportunity arises. Which Jack does very well and adds to the pace of our midfield.

Both Leo and Bevan gave away gift goals on the weekend.

Mattner is being unfairly blamed for the one Leo gave away. When Leo received the handpass he had plenty of time to do something with it but chose to try and beat a tackle.

We are a bit too tall IMO.

Even after a tall comes out for a running player? I was actually hoping Grundy would play up forward, I think we're lacking one tall there.
