Except the salary is only for 1 year so it frees up cap room the following year. It seems to me he's run his race as a Swan. Also if he doesn't command much this year what would he deliver a year older?

Latest from SEN (unconfirmed) is Saddington to Blues for pick 52.
Unless they are picking up all is salary, I think this isn't great for us.
I'd be happy to hold onto him, as he is a pretty versatile player. This year we've been blessed with injuries. In any other year saddo would have been in the team on a regular basis. I'm just concerned about depth given this year's retirements
Pick 52 is not a great return for us. If that is true then I think the club is actually going out of its way to try and help Saddo find regular first team time, which might annoy us but does seem to go along Roos' general approach to football thus far.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
I think 52 is well under the money. Former first round draft selection coming back from injury with another 4 good years of service. Tall player with decent disposal who knows how to find the ball.
Surely a better player than Paul Chambers who we swapped for our second round pick!
I don't get it.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.
I understand that he wants to leave, and would like to see us accomodating him. But at the end of the day, our interests have to come first. Saddo is worth much, much more to us than pick 52.
36 and 52, and I'd say ok.

I think he really wants to go so the Swans are doing what they can to help him out without really fussing about what they get in return. No point keeping a player against his will (is there Hawthorn?!? Huh?)

Yeah i totally agree with this. Bulldogs can get Mark Bolton if they are offering just pick 52. Saddo managed to stay injury free in the latter half of the season, so i'd rather keep him if this is all we can get.

If Saddo had stayed, can you see him getting much game time in the seniors? As LA said, it's an example of Roos doing the right thing by one of his players. Incidentally, it'd be worth getting the quotes from the past coaches of our two new recruits when the claims that we "stole" them roll around in a year or two. Just love all round in the Swans' circles (but wouldn't have been if it'd be Spida).

No, there isn't, but there isn't much sense gift-wrapping a senior, contracted player to another club, and including postage.
