Good luck, Saddo, and thanks for your commitment to the Swans. We wish you well in the next stage of your career at the Blues. We'll miss you...

A 2nd round pick would have been a better deal (or 3rd round in Carltons case), but to be honest, if Saddo was getting a game with us, then we arent in contention. He's not a premiership quality player, and has been on our list long enough and given enough chances, that he's unlikely to improve much in his late 20's.
A journey man. Like I said, we got screwed in this deal, and probably overall in the draft, but thats the risk with being in a one team town.Comment

Hear, hear.
Saddo, you were great for us - you don't play 142 games for Sydney in a strong era for no reason.
I hope you star with Carlton - in 20 games next year anyway.

Not really a great loss, injuries have limited his development and game time.
If he can remain injury free might be a good pick for Carlton, otherwise good for business to the local surgery down there.

Roos (or whoever's orchestrated the trade) has obviously decided to do the right thing by an individual player. Unfortunately it's been at the expense of doing the right thing by the club list. FFS, it's not like we already have picks 5, 8 and 13 and we're just after giggle money-- this is our first pick!
Saddo would certainly have played senior games for the Swans in 2006. And remember that 12 months ago Fossie was lining up to be traded, and plenty of people would have said (and probably did say), 'Let him go-- he's not the sort of player we need to win us a premiership.'
Anyways, that's my spleen vented. Good luck to the fella at Carlton. Even though it only worked out in dribs and drabs at Sydney, he's talented, was a pleasure to watch when he was on song (kind of runs in a gait like a racehorse) and seems like a nice guy.Comment

What a steal! Pick 52 for a 26YO, 142 senior gamer. What did Hay go for?
Swans must have known he was going to walk regardless. The only plus will be less pressure on the salary cap but what are we planning with the surplus (other than improved profitability)?Comment

A good result as he had no future with us. A handy link-man/wingman but that's it. Give him what he wants - more opportunity.
I notice Carlton are seeing him as a KPP saying about Saddo "One of our priorities has been to recruit a key defender" ... little do they know it's harder to knock the froth off a beer than Saddo off the ball in a marking contest."As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.Comment

So what are our draft picks?
52, 54, 61???
I think the Swans must have their eyes on some of the uncontracted talent in the PSD - Camporeale, Lappin, Montgomery, Woewodin etc."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
