I think it has sdomething to do with the environment...and the supporters, but both Plugger and Bazza appeared to be thugs at St Kilda, change of environment, coaching etc has made the world of difference to them. Still don't know if I'd want him at the Swans though

Woewoedin? Hell no! Would not get a game for us. Ever.

Guerra is a different story. He can kick bags of goals, he's tough, and keeps the ball locked in our forward line. Maybe he could be a permanent forward pocket for us with Davis, Buchanen and Schneider all hopefully moving to the midfield on a near permanent basis.

Woewoedin is a classy player & as a back-up (along with Brent) would make handy players - better than that small guy on our list from Geelong. Apart from being fast, I don't think he adds anything to us

Woewoedin played for Williamstown this year. He wasn't selected for C'Wood because he is not up to it any longer. We have LOTS of midfielders. McVeigh, Moore, Schmidt, Willoughby need games next year.

Woewoedin ended up playing the last 7 or so games for Collingwood and he was actually very serviceable playing as a half back run with role. Unfortunately for him the horse had already bolted so to speak and he was never going to be retained on the big dollars he was on.

As for us, if he was prepared to play on a heavy weighted performance based contract then he would be a candidate as our last pick in the draft.

Did not play well at Collingwood. but he certainly showed that he could play attacking footy at Melbourne at the highest level.

As for Guerra, very handy footballer but I suspect (just as Schuable) the game has passed him by. He is just not able to play anywhere then a small forward because of the lack of leg speed. Which in this day and age you can't carry, blokes like Amon, Scheinder & Davis all show they need to be flexible to get a game at AFL level these days.

Guerra will be playing AFL footy next year, and is probably the best delisted player thus far.

He'd be gathering 40 touches a week with Spriggs in Canberra if we took him.

It would be a backward step.

Better player, but one has perhaps two seasons of footy left, and the other could have ten if he worked out ok.

That tips the balance in Guerra's direction. 'Best delisted player' should be taken to mean the player that offers a new club the best value.

I actually rated Guerra very highly when he was at Port, and he continued that form into the first half of last season.

Personally, its hard to rate a player properly when he plays with the Saints. They have a crap coach, crap fitness and conditioning team, and are all so hopped up on ego and Melbourne media hype that their true value is very difficult to discern. All the players yo-yo from a status of "champion" to "hack" almost overnight, they get regularly injured and have interrupted seasons, and they play out of position and with a poor gameplan regularly. The only team who is harder to rate properly is Freo under CC.

IF he is still available, IF he passes the Rick Barham Rule, and IF he actually WANTS to come here, I say give him a chance. The Spriggs 'experiment' is hardly a failure to date... we still won the Premiership!

Experienced and skilled 23yr olds are hard to find, and give him a couple of years to see if the change in environment and coaching staff dont take his game back to late 2003-early 2004 levels again.

So your telling me that we wouldn't of won the Premiership if we didn't draft Spriggs???

                              That's just plain silly.

But for all the negativity, I dont see how it hurt us. And its not like all of our great drafting in the past has done better - poor Sunny and Fixter can attest to that. Picking a new draftee instead of Spriggs has no greater potential for success IMO.

Not entirely sure there's a positive causal correlation in that sentance. On the other hand when I grew a beard in May. Mrs Ruckman stopped me shaving it off untill after the GF, just in case it jinxed our run.
