I think what some of these Collingwood supporters need to realise is if he wanted to leave, it's better they get rid of him and pick up someone who wants to be there.
Who's going to play better, the guy who wants to be there and will give every thing to prove he loves his club, or the one going through the motions wishing he was some place else??
I was amzed from where I sat Willo seemed to get louder boos than Nick.
Personally when I saw it I thought it was pathetic. I love him and am happy he's here.
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release

Love and peace

No one is arguing this point.
What Collingwood fans argue is that he mislead the club in regards to his future at the club. I'll give you an example.
Your employer puts 4 years into your development. Given that, you would hope you could be truthful enough to tell your boss, straight in the eye that you are leaving.
Nick couldn't do this. That's why there is bad blood.
But if your employer challenges you half-way through a major, high-profile project to publically commit to the firm for the next couple of years, and threatens (in the national media) to drop you if you're unable to, that's OK?
Maybe Davis could have handled things differently, but he was obviously torn in both directions and is a 22yo. The club, on the other hand, is a "professionally" run organisation that has experts on how to manage people and publicity.
and I know the way I handled things when I was 22 compared to now, 11 years later is very different.
Nick may regret how things unfolded, maybe not. It doesn't change the fact I think it was pathetic and not very imaginative. Same as it doesn't change the person holding the banner and their perspective either.

That never happend Liz.
McGuire is smart enough to realise that Presidents have no right to effect onfield selection for games.
The threat to Davis only came after the season finished and when his management wouldn't even talk to Collingwood. This was after his management (and Nick) came out during the year and said he would stay.
If Davis had made a concrete decision and was honest to his employer, there would be no bad blood.

Davis selection was never hindered on the field.
oh Purlese...FatChins Challanged Nick on his very own show.
Originally posted by Jason Nevins Yes he challenged him. He said The Collingwood Football Club wants only people who are committed behind the club. He didn't mention Nick Davis.
However Liz stated that McGuire told Davis that if you don't sign up, you will get dropped.
There is a difference.
Actually, I implied it. Not stated it. There is a difference.
And the implications within McGuire's comments were as strong as those in mine. The timing of his comments were simultaneous with Collingwood publically asking Davis to sign a new contract. Eddie may be many things but he's not stupid. He knew exactly what the implication of his comments were.

Really irrelevant.
You implied he would be dropped if he didn't sign. Maybe in your mind the implications of his comments were Nick being dropped but Eddie would never interfere with onfield selections.
Just imagine you've developed an employee, given him exposure and invested much time in him and he can't even look at you straight in the face and give you a concrete answer.
If Davis had his hopes on playing in Sydney he should have never committed to Collingwood when they gave him the choice of being drafted under the father/son rule.
His comments about him staying at Collingwood if they won the Flag really rub salt into the wound. Nick Davis lied and that's why he is the centre of so much ill feeling.
