I suppose in a way Nick stuffed himself up there.
He should have said nothing until seasons end.


But once he said he was contemplating his future (and when he did so, I honestly thought he was trying to play mind games with Collingwood for a better contract) he was cactus.

The media got a hold of it.
Eddie came out and (annonymously) directed comments at him.

What was he to do?

say "yes I am still thinking of going to Sydney" ?
He would have been ravaged by magpie fans and the media would have stayed all over it.

Instead he did the smart thing and shut up and indicated he was staying.

I sure as hell would have done the same thing

The real reason Magpie fans are pissed is because they got little for him.

It was in the Herald Sun after the Pies beat the Eagles and they questioned his form. He told them he wanted to wait until after the season. Eddie after the next round told him that he couldn't. Had Eddie not done that I doubt a public statement would have been made. Licuria is a man of integrity and probably perceives Nick as a liar. I always liked Licuria and like the way he plays his footy. It is his choice whether he shakes somebody's hand.

I know of who organized it and it wasn't a Cheer Squad thing. A couple of guys doing an independent thing.

From what I've picked up, it did make an impression. Apparently Kelly had to refrain Davis from going to that section and making a point.

He took offence to it, because there was a whole lot more being said and done behind the scenes . Not everything that happens at Collingwood is reported in the newspapers . People like Eddie make damn sure of that .

Should an employee really have to worry that if they don't resign on a contract, that's ALREADY valid btw , as soon as the Club President wants them to , even if it is very early into the season - that they'll be humiliated in public, or bullied via national TV, press, to anybody within earshot, or any other avenue the ' Boss ' can exploit ?

This isn't someone else's account of what happened, these are cold hard facts . Whether you choose to believe it or not, is entirely up to you .

Eddie asked Nick to resign early in the year, via Ricky Nixon . Eddie was then told that Nick wasn't prepared to sign anything until the end of the season . Anyway ,that advice come from Ricky Nixon, afterall, that's what the guy was paid to do. Soooo, being the control freak that he is, Eddie then took the law into his own hands and decided to use channel 9, as a platform for the Collingwood Football Club (surprise surprise ). What gives him the right to do that? Isn't that a touch unethical ?

You questioned the 'employees' commitment . How can you do that ? Nick was already under contract . That already makes him committed to The CFC . He performed all the required tasks to keep his end of the contract . He played, he went to training, he had his injuries attended to etc etc , he did what he had to do within the legal bindings of his contract, to be a footballer, and more importantly, he kept his commitments in order .Or are you saying that once a person signs with Collingwood, they have to keep doing so until the end of their careers, or that means they aren't capable of commitment ?

Tell me this ...If Mick & Eddy, didn't think Nick was committed to the Collingwood Football Club so early in the season, why did they keep playing him ? You know why ... Because he happened to be a good footballer. So they kept on playing him anyway , even though he'd ' LIED ', he refused to show ' COMMITMENT ', and all the other things he was supposed to have done wrong .

Um ....Can you show me where the CFC ' morals' went to there ? Because the way i see it, they must have changed them to suit themselves .

Nick committing to playing for Collingwood until the end of his contract just like (nearly) every other Collingwood player who would go elsewher if they got a better offer or were delisted.

If he hadn't been committed to CW and to his footy, then he wouldn't have got a game would he?

Here's what happened....Eddie and Mick say to themselves "Nick wants to go home at the end of his contract, we don't want him to, so......we'll offer him a new contract and threaten to publicly humiliate him and call him a traitor to the B & W if he doesn't sign...that'll get his signature."

Do you reckon it worked ? No because people like Eddie and Elliot, who lack integrity, and use every trick at their disposal to bully and intimidate in order to get their way will usually lose sooner or later. Sooner in this case.

Well Davis has been copping it from jilted Pies fans on Big Footy as well, with poor Diego copping it from all sides.

I saw the guys with the Davis banner at the station after the match. They were total morons (dickhead sickkunt Greek types) and were goading us into a slanging match, which I personally couldn't be bothered in getting into.

Their supporters are inbred. I mean they are still booing Williams after all these years.

I have the scary proposition that I may well have to go for them on Friday. A Pies' win is better for us, is it not?

Nathan Buckley was truthful and honest. He didn't come out midseason and say he was staying at Collingwood and wrongly raise the hopes of the CFC. Trouble is Nick did.

The great Norm Smith said you have nothing if you don't have honesty.

Why would Nick want to commit to a club run by manipulative, lying bullies? What Eddie didn't realise is that Nick has integrity and took one look at how the Pres behaved and decided he no longer wished to be associated with two-faced scum.

As I've said numerous times I've asked (and you don't seem to understand, so I'll spell it out) why couldn't Davis look at McGuire and Malthouse in the face and give a definite answer?

My defintion of full support is being honest. Davis continually mislead the CFC when he said I'll sign, no I'll won't, no I'll sign throughout the year.

All he should have done (what Buckley did in 1996) is say that he would be making a decision at the end of the year.

It's not too much to ask for given that the CFC made him the player (helped) he was.
