I still have fond memories of standing in front of the old grandstand at the Lake Oval with my father (who like his father and my daughter are also loyal to the red and white) cheering on the Swannies. And yes Ruckman Tesser was another favorite of mine, and I to was crapped of when he went to Collingwood. Though if you read Jim Mains book Honour the Names appently Tesser still follows the Swans with more than a passing glimpse.

His game at Victoria Oark in 1977 is still the best individual performance I have seen. My brother has been trying to get a tape for years of the game, which was televised. Strewth were these 2 ordinary backmen. Neither knew that when you played in the backline you played on a man. Their only claim to fame is that they wore the Red and White.

Now John Pitura(21) could play. Coming off half back he was as exciting as they come. Tigers tried to make him into a forward and he was a dismal failure.

His last game for us, even though he was going to Richmond, was a blinder.

But we got Teaser and The Whale for him which more than compensated for his loss.

My memory was that Jackson was quite a solid player. My memory of David Ackerley was that he was a good VFL standard player.

Didn't he win two B & Fs?

Jackson was an OK player and solid is probably a good description . My memory of David Ackerley is that he was an outstanding back pocket player.

Yep - that was my memory of Ackerley too.

Jackson was all over the place as I recall - sometimes really good and sometimes doing nothing.

I was there in the Collingwood members' area with my dad, invited by a family friend. Virtually had to stand on the seat to see, but vividly remember my first real Swans hero 'Teasa' soar head and shoulders above the pack to dominate the game.

Hence #20 is also special for me, but behind 14 and 10... and I'm also ROPABLE with Sheedy.

That game, and Teasedale in particular, was the reason why I became a Swans supporter, my brothers were Collingwood and I watched that game from the members area.

Every time the Swans kicked a point the Collingwood full-back would kick out and Teasedale would take another great mark and thunp the ball all the way back, sometimes it seemed the game was only being played in the Swans forward line, he slaughtered the collingwood rucks.

Between sibling rivalry and the sheer beauty of Teasedale's game I became a Swans convert there and then.

I was at that game too, although I remember little of it except we won!! A great year 1977. In those days just making finals was the ultimate for us!!

same here. I remember getting him in a scanlens deck once and thinking "cool, David Ackerley". But back then I was young and not quite as football adept as I am now. Perceptions change as people mature, so maybe he wasn't that great. But back then I thought he was a solid player.
