It's up to others how they respond , but largely I agree with your sentiments.
In an age where people are constantly scrutinised and expected to conform to certain behavioural standards , football is one of the last bastions where we still enjoy freedom to "let rip" - and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

I wasn't surprised to see you had posted the above, because it seems more and more you only post to have a go at people. You don't like what goes on in the CS well fine, the fact of the matter is some of us do. To say that to sit behind the goals at ground level leaves you no chance to have an idea of whats going on is wrong. I have watched football for over 15 years and in that time I have gained a better understand from sitting behind the goals than anywhere else on the ground. I believe that your using this post as a chance to personally attack Julian knowing full well that if you set him off, you'll more than likely come out of it looking the better. You my friend have problems. If you dislike what Julian or anyone else for that matter has to say, keep it to yourself or bring it up in private, because I'm beginning to tire of your sniping to posts of certain people on this site.

Julian himself admits the seats are poor, as does everybody else except Captain who manages do miss the fact that myself and Reggi stated 'ground level' behind the goals are poor, yet you have learnt more from sitting there in 15 years than sitting anywhere else.

I blame Goodes for the lack of atmosphere on Saturday night. Just when the team had some momentum, the slow Sydney chant started and made it's way around the whole ground (I love it how everyone chants at different times...) and then he ran into an open goal and missed. It went (and stayed) very quiet for the rest of the night. Grrrrrrr... Goodesy.

On a side note, I thought the ANZAC ceremony was amazing. 33 000 people standing in dead silence (apart from a few crying babies) is a sight (and sound) to behold. Thankfully, the lady singing the national anthem was great..if only a few more of the boys had joined in with Benny Mathews and Jared Crouch singing the anthem.

Edited to say that it was nice to see Charles Edmonston get a cheer from the crowd. 80 years is nothing to sneeze at!

He's actually almost 90. He has an amazing history (if you read my guernsey presentation report). He was the only survivor of his first fighter pilot squadron, then the captain of his second. He flew 270 odd missions, in a time when most people were considered veterans if they flew 20 missions. He is a very humble man, yet is an inspiration.

I saw him at half time and he was having a great day (apart from the Swans!). This guy rode his pushbike from Wodonga to see the Swans win their flag in 1933, and to Sydney to watch Bradman in the bodyline series!

Right on. From there you pick up the leads, who's in space etc quicker than the players. Going down with the CS is a reminder how difficult it is for the players. Skinny grounds like Stad Oz, elevated on wing is best - for the Brisbane final I sat front row imm above the corporate boxes, was the best view at the footy I have ever had. (havn't been to the docklands yet)

In old days there was little time for songs, chanting. Now there is more scope because of the irritating delays waiting for the ads to finish after each goal, kickers in sucking their thumbs for 30secs etc. If the CS fills in that time with chants, good on em. But when the games on BARRACK!!

I thought the same. It was amazing. It was one of the thoughts going through my mind while trying to stop myself from crying (I usually end up a blubbering mess during the last post, remembering people close to me who are no longer here).

I was also watching the screen to see which players were singing and thought the girl who sung, did so brilliantly.

I got all excited when Charles was welcomed to the field. So much so, my sister was wondering what the hell I was on about.

Just wanted to add my two cents worth...

Although I do like the size of the ground at TS that is where it ends.
I hate the atmosphere there, the fact that it looked like a dust storm everytime the players ran over the 'covered up' patches, and I hate the fact I can never get a REALLY good seat- with a decent view (I sit in the members area- gate H). I also miss the AMF with Luffy!

Also wanted to say how wondeful the ANZAC ceremony was (my eyes whelled up). The silence was tremendous. Especially considering there were no shout outs like there were at the Eddiewood and S&Don match.

CS- I think you do a terrific job everytime! Even when I didn't feel like chanting on Sat night, hearing your ethusiasm made me at least clap along.

No not at all, if you disagree with something someone has to say by all means put your point across, however you don't do that, you just get personal and snipe at certain people. You clearly have problems with Julian and myself that have nothing to do with the topics at hand. If you want to bring up a topic that is over 18 months old, you can do so. If your problem with me is because of this topic, then thats your problem not mine. As to looking like a fool in that topic, well I done that more than enough on other topics since to have completely moved on from it. You clearly haven't and maybe you should.

What make you think your right and that what I said so wrong??? I'm entitled to my opinion of where to sit at the footy and you yours. I believe that I've learnt more from sitting behind the goals than on a wing. Thats just me, as to everyone else, well each to their own. My opinion doesn't make me right and everyone wrong, yet somehow your opinion does. For 10 years now, I have sat with the Cheer Squad behind the goals, I enjoy my football sitting there. I like to yell out and support the team, why this is a problem with you when you sit no where near the CS is beyond me. Oh thats right, you are looking for any old reason to personally attack me.

Sitting behind the goals really sucks actually

But being so close to the play, you certainly notice other things, even if you aren't able to see the match-ups as clearly. Like whether the players are communicating with each other, whether the defensive huddle is working. Who the person kicking out after a goal has leading for him. Whether guys in the forward line are bothering to chase and hustle as their opponents attempt to get it out of defence. Whether the players kicking at goal are following through with their kicks properly.

Plus the best thing of all is you never have to wait until the goal umpire has signalled to know its a goal. We have the flags up before people on the wing know it is through.

For some strange reason I am just drawn to sitting there, even for soccer and basketball as well. I go to sporting matches to have fun; it just seems that you get more of that behind the sticks. I go to the footy to yell the stresses of the week out. I'm able to do it there.

Yeah JF but what you are describing is being at Ground level, which is a different experience. I enjoy it sometimes. Even that is very good on the wing.

On the weekend a Pom and a Yank from work went to the St Kilda vs Norff game, said it was great compared to the MCG (I don't like the MCG spectators are too far away), unless you get level 2A in AFL members which is good and close. First time they could 'appreciate' the sport.
