    Nick Davis update

I spoke to Nicky D on the way to the aftermatch function and asked how his leg was?

    "it's good now"

"So back in a couple of weeks?"

"I should be back next week."

Then he went on stage and said when he would return is "Indefinite."

Do I detect a bit of a bad attitude from that guy? Is everything those feral Collingwood supporters are/were saying true? ND might need a bit of a reality check before it all caves in around him. I wasn't impressed with him at all after the West Coast game aftermatch.

    Hope I'm wrong
If u don't believe me, I will knock your bloody teeth out and not pay you a cent.

My guess is that he is as frustrated as hell. He managed to get himself into pretty good form for the start of the season and we saw the benefits in one and a half quarters against the Lions. To then get injured, especially when you've been struggling for a couple of seasons with a groin problem, must be pretty annoying.

He's probably not a Kirk or Crouch who naturally relishes the training aspects of things but no doubt he'll work his way through it.

He is a top goal kick and worth nursing along. I don't doubt his commitment to the team - see his reactions at different times when he contributes. The sooner he's back the happier we'll all be.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I just don't think he's a people person at all. At last year's B&F dinner, he was happy to sign autographs and chat away - mind you, he WAS quite relaxed as a result of a considerable amount of alcohol!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

we've never had a problem talking to him. At the kids clinic last year we wanted a photo. He was more than happy to oblige. The camera we were using decided then and there to play up. It wasn't a problem, he quite happily stayed and chatted while it was fixed and posed for the pic after that.

Perhaps his persona on field is very different to his off field one. Doesn't mean he has a problem. Perhaps we expect too much of these guys from time to time. Just because you play footy or do anything for that fact that puts you in the public eye doesn't mean you're not a shy person, who may feel awkward speaking publicly, or to people you really don't know that well.

Perhaps the official line rearding his injury is indefinite? He may just be optimistic that he will be able to play next week.
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release
              We need
              Love and peace

Well, that form line does ring true - Davis, played 5 lost 5.
No Davis, played 4 won 4.

                  I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

You know that's just your own superstition and has no basis in rational thought?

I'm just waiting for one of the many statisticians here to tell you the random chances that Nick has been in every Swans loss and not one of the wins this season.

I've always found him pretty easy-going, no problems with him off-field at all. The Collingwood fans didn't seem to have an issue with him until he left for greener pastures. After what he was put through by Collingwood he would have every right to be a bit suspicous of fans.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Assuming only 2 possible outcomes - played or didn't play, and that each are equally likely, then it's 1 / 2^9, or 1/512.

'course, it's been a while since I did stats, so I might be completely out.
