I think we have enough young midfielders already.

Most important IMO to secure in this years draft is a ruckman(1st pick)

Then A full forward a full back.Thats three picks and IMO we should trade the other picks.

You mean get Cressa back at any cost

Seriously I doubt a new midfield coach will solve anything. For as good as Kirk, Willo, Maxfield, Mathews, Crouch and Jude can be, they aren't good enough to beat a midfield as good as Brisbane's. We need some new blood in there, play the kids we have in Canberra, trade for a few, but with Maxfield and Willo seeming like they are on their last legs we need to find replacements and find them now.

At least the first thing we can try is use McVeigh for four full quarters in place of Maxfield on a wing and then use Maxfield off the bench. McVeigh is suppose to have talent - why not give him a proper chance to prove himself.

One who may be worth looking at and who we may be able to get cheaply is Ryan Hargrave from the Doggies. Showed some good signs last year, but hasn't gone on with it this year - maybe a change of scenery would do him good.

It is as simple as this:

              (1) Kennelly steps up to the midfield.

              (2) Pursue Bradshaw -- being starved of opportunities with Lynch and Brown ahead of him. Could be looking for a club where he would have more responsibility.

              (3) Trade Ben Matthews -- can't kick and already have too many like him.

              (4) Continue with youth policy for remaining draft choices.

              Go Pies!

No chance of this happening. He is under contract for next season and in with Lynch in all likelyhood retiring after 4 in a row, there is no way the Lions would even dream of trading him.

I am on the "give JMcV his own wing for the rest of the season" boat. If nothing else he will actually give the option of someone on the wing who can take a mark, which I don't think we really have right now...
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I reakon we need to aim to brisbane for recruits, in the same vein as Craig Bolton, surely they've got an overload of decent players that they'd be needing to offload, so lets scab of them.

Another one who would come cheaply - why can't Chris Lamb get a game at Melbourne - he played out the year at full back in 2002 when Nicholson went down, and did a damn fine job, now it seems the likes of Nicholson, Rivers, Broadbridge and Carroll have passed him over
He was a first round pick when drafted back in 1998

I agree; I would even say that Kennelly should play a half-forward flank. The number of times he's dobbed a running goal from outside 50 this year shows that he should be placed closer to goals.

Bugger me, Dan, just this afternoon I was having a quick surf trying to find out what happened to Lamb.

He was progressing really well with the Demons until he damaged his neck flying for a mark. Then BBB gave him a flogging soon after, and he's hardly been seen since.

Anyone know where he's at now?

I agree with Dan, and I think that Lamb might be a potential cheap smokey, similar to Bolton last season.

from all reports he's playing well at Sandringham but keeps getting overlooked
The Dees fans on BigFooty seem to think Daniher has something against him
But he's a big strong bodied defender - certainly fits the bill for what we need

I think Kennelly should be on the wing. At 190cm and with pace to burn, he is the perfect link man between the backline and the forwards. He can take a great mark, he can slip into the backline when needed (a system he knows intimately), and we all know he can kick a killer goal when he goes forward.
