Sorry they are not in any order of heirarchy.
I do not believe that Jude is at the level of any one of those players as of their 2004 season form. Schnieder chick or man or whatever it is was trying to say that Jude is in the top 20 afl midfielders and all I am saying is he is not. Anyone with half a brain can see that there are more than 20 midfielders playing AFL this year who are undeniably better Than Jude bolton.

Thats true, under the tutelage of , and within the context of a nexus between him (cresswell) with one of the greast captains ever and one of the cleanest dispossers of the ball ever in Pual kelly and Wayne Schwass.
Get two players like that and I'm happy to have Jude. But he is not the mentor required to inspire our next Champion midfielder. Therefore I respectfully suggest we trade him.

but paul kelly was shocking with his disposal early and gradually improved as well. He himself says in his book he couldnt even kick left foot when he got to the swans and his right wasnt much better!

wasnt until his brownlow year he got even better and he was hardley the greatest kick in the league...he was just such a couragoues and awesome individual he made himself a champion.... i can see a lot of kel in jude bolton

Kelly could make exciting things happen and turn a game himself. His skills were not the greatest, but he had a way of making things happen. Bolton has not shown on a single occasion he can do that. Kelly's Brownlow year ('95) was equivalent in terms of games experience as Bolton's current year.

Cresswell is probably closer to Bolton, however Cressa could really influence games with critical touches. He was clever finding space and being dangerous to the opposition. His disposal could let him down, but when it didn't he was dangerous. Again this is the difference with Bolton - he doesn't regularly hurt the opposition.

Cressa also averaged mid-20s in his disposal in his peak years. Bolton typically averages only around 20. Certainly Bolton is improving in the total number, but as the main midfielder, which some people say he is, I expect bigger numbers. Cressa could also pop up and kick goals, twice as frequently as Bolton.

In terms of saying Cressa has had more experience, his '97 year was equivalent in number of games played to Bolton's current year. In '97 Cressa has 27 disposals per game, which is a decent effort.


In comparing Bolton to those 20 Foothead named, which of those is Bolton better than, or even equal to?

To clarify. Paul kelly always had more courage and presence and determination than Bolton Does, and Schwass had more Skill .
Bolton can not compete with either of them (IE he is not as courageous as kell , and he is not as skillful as Schwatta).
Therefore he needs support in the midfeild and should not be mentioned in the same breath as either.

i would consider jude to be very courageous.

his skill can be questioned at times but never his desire to win the ball i think he can be considered kel like in his approach!

and i dont consider that disrespectful to one of the swans greats to say that

even the herald sun described jude as a premier midfielder

The Herald Sun, thats it settled then he is! For what its worth Jude is required every team needs atleast one jude if not two, just like every team needs one or two Judds, Akers, Blacks and the like.

BTW . . . another top effort from Bolton J on the weekend. Generally rated as near BOG with Hall. Still right up there in the Age Player of the Year ratings. Second top in the Hun player data ratings.

The fans love him; the club loves him; the media loves him; even the computer loves him! But there's still just this faint wailing in the wind . . . . "he's not as good as Kel . . . Kel . . Kel . . Kelly".

Cresswell learned how to find space. Was never a true in and under player, and I agree his disposal was ordinary until his last few years.

But he adapted his game to get into a position where he could kick goals and assist in many others. Became a truely creative link player.
