Argh Goodes doesn't need to be traded but should be taught to learn what accountability is.

Last night he deserved a John Kennedy type spray "DO NOT THINK DOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

the worst game he has ever played and that includes when he was toweled up by kouta all those years back, except he was still a young buck back then.

You do not trade superstars unless they want out end of story.

Goodes will have all summer to get his knees right and I am sure he will be chaffing at the bit to make amends for last nights showing.

Surely everyone can still remeber his performance against Port in last years finals.

Yeah, played his best match ever in the position he should be played in.

Forget his injuries because they aren't the reason he has had a poor season, the fact his has been kept away from the middle of the ground in Roos attempt to mould him into a key position has meant he has put in a shocker of a season.

Since he joined the Swans, Goodes best 3 seasons have been when he has been played in the ruck or at least played in the middle. The other seasons are shockers because of the belief he can still become a key position player. Forget it he'll never become one.

              saddington maybe

              but why trade goodes

he was reasonable with his poor fitness

he clearly cant play defence but he is a brownlow medalist! and a champion when fit

              2005 will be his year

Also his inspirational performance at the Gabba in round 1. The stuff of a true CHAMPION.

No way, once his knees have been given a rest and a chance to heal (or whatever needs to happen) then he will be a much better player next season.

I don't know; Goodes and Magic: How many seasons do they have in them? Can chronically injured players take the heat in September? "Getting fit" doesn't count for a lot if you have an injury that isn't going to heal or will come back to haunt you every year - even Kel' and Plugger suffered in the end. Could we trade them for a length of rope and a sturdy beam?

I hope that's not true, but if it is he may never realise his potential - Davis has the same problem.

                            Agree. Agree. Agree.
Goodes has won the Rising Star, Brownlow and All Australian as a ruckman.
Just sometimes, if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck - IT IS A DUCK.

The issue I see is: What if Goodes cannot play in the ruck again? What's his value then?

Seriously, Goodes hasen't played ruck since the injury, now if he fully recovers fine, but if he doesn't then his value drops enormously, because as you said he is not a KPP (and never will be).
Where does Goodes rank as a CHF/CHB?
Well IMO he drops from elite Brownlow medalist, down past players like Leppitisch, Bradshaw et al, and arrives at the level of Jade Rawlings/Ben Graham.
If that is true then trading him while he still has an inflated value becomes sound strategy - however absurd it seems to say it.

I think that's a pretty reasonable observation, that certainly cuts through all the emotion that clouds many views.
