    Swans Trade Targets

Nikki Tugwell from the Fox Sports website mentioned in an article this morning that the Swans could be targeting the following players from opposition clubs -

    * Cameron Bruce, Mark McVeigh, Shane Crawford, Tim Notting, Richard Hadley, Troy Simmonds, Matthew Clarke, Clarke Keating, Peter Everritt and possibly Daniel Bradshaw, Brad Ottens and Lance Whitnall.

IMO, the Swans should primarily target Cameron Bruce, Brad Ottens, Tim Notting, Daniel Bradshaw, Shane Crawford, Troy Simmonds and Mark McVeigh in that order.

Of course we won't get, or have the room in the salary cap, for all seven players, with two players being a necessity, three handy and four a bonus.

Preferably Bruce, Ottens and Notting would be the main targets with Bradshawand/or Crawford a bonus, as these players all can play in two to three positions in either the Ruck, backline, forward line or on the ball.

Contrary to what many people believe, IMO the Swans midfield isn't as bad as many people believe if Goodes was played on the ball as a ruck-rover, one or two of the younger players came through and we picked up either or both of Bruce or Notting.

A rotating on-ball division of J.Bolton, Kirk, Goodes, Williams (who has at least one good year left in the tank), Schneider, McVeigh, Matthews (unfortunately), Bruce and Notting would surely be the envy of most clubs in the competition.

    Opinions please.......

I would jump at the chance to get Richard Hadley.

He seems to be an up and coming player - I've heard with leadership qualities. Got to be near the top of that list.

I'd be very wary of Brisbane second stringers. They may look good because they always get the weaker opponents (good opponents are on Voss, Black, etc), and they get plenty of off the ball help from the rest of the team.

I speak of Notting and Hadley, and Power.

I probably could have Hadley higher, however he is a very young, unproven talent and I think we have a few of them. The others above him are a bit more developed, which is what I think we need.

I think Power is a very good footballer, but I would be wary of chasing him as he would be expensive and possibly not as good as he appears.

Notting is a little different however. I don't think he would command as much as Power yet I think he could have as much effect.

The difference between the two is that a lot of Power's work is as a link man. He does this extremely well however this role is also dependent on your team mates, and without them being very good the impact is limited.

I think Notting can play as an effective running and burst player. You see him do that with the Lions in his limited time in the midfield - he relies a little less on the other players and can make things happen himself.

Power is hardly a second stringer. He's a fully fledged member of the Lions midfield. I would love to have him at the club.

Rover in the All-Australian team isn't a higher enough honour for Luke Power in your opinion.....

Power is in the top five or six players in the comp and would be just as damaging a player, much like Black, if tagged.

                  Jeezzzzz, u guys....

What about making GREASE SHAW our no 1 target, the pies having delisted him....maybe we could get him on a 2 for 1 deal with that other clown, Jason Cloke thrown in....

In case you thought I was serious....I'm NOT...those two are the captain and VC of my spastics team of the century, and Grease's uncle is the coach!!!

PS: Knowing the Swans (always ket you down and all) I reckon we've probably already got them signed up and the moving trucks are on their way north as I write, but if we do I WILL be returning my membership...

Is Everitt a possibility? He's been one of the few good players for Hawthorn this year. Is he mates with former team mate Bazza ie would that freindship attract him to Sydney?

I'm not quite sure how the above relates to the rest of this thread.

Don't understand the point of your post in context of this thread, but that is fine...

What ****s me is the line of yours that I have quoted - anyone who is willing to just throw in their membership over players or officials or coaches should just do it now and piss off.
