If Randwick's Melbourne Cup day is anywhere near as good as Perth's Ascot MC day- and I will bet my bippy(old American TV sitcom saying) it is - then you should have a great day. I wouldn't worry about it being a poor man's MC. Never been to Royal Randwick. Must be fabulous.

"Laugh-In" was definitely NOT a sitcom. And it was a "sweet bippy". Look it up in your "Funk & Wagnell". Very interesting.

Mark Holden was obviously a fan - he used about half a dozen "Laugh-In" quotes last night.

Goldie Hawn, Lily Tomlin and others started their careers on "Laugh-In". Others ended them.

lescygnes, I think you need to "find" someone here who can record the game for you onto DVD (off Foxtel preferably), and mail the sucker off to you every Monday morning - for a negotiated fee of course. It couldn't be that hard surely?

Any offers to help our leetle french fry?

Mate, I really don't know. Rugby is such a class-specific game.
Had I gone to a private school I very well still could have followed rugger. As the major Victorian schools DO play union.

I just saw footy on the TV, really liked the game, was told not to watch it by my mum. And the rest is history.

Veeeerrrry interesting! I knew that "Laugh In" wasn't a sitcom - I just couldn't think of a word to explain it.

Cheers Nolie, I am looking forward to it. Will have a great atmosphere (won't be on the same scale as Melbourne) but definately a good day out. Randwick IS fabulous, the Easter Carnival this year was just the best

After the Saints loss I hardly slept that night as I was so depressed and couldn't get it out of my mind.

As for the off-season I'll probably be completely stir-crazy with footy withdrawl by January 1 and getting desperate for a swans game, but I'll make do with cricket & tennis until March/April 2005.

SYDNEY SWANS - PREMIERS 2005 pleeaase!!

Believe me, it will really surprise you. A thrilling game of basketball (eg-Game 5 between the Kings and Pigs) can be one of the best sporting spectacles you could see.

And Kings-Pigs games are as full of rivalry and hatred as any NRL NSL derby. Gets the adrenalin pumping BIG TIME!

Hey JF, sorry to hear you've still got those health worries on your mind ...

I'd be willing to give the Kings a go in the off-season .. not that I know anything about the rules, but hey that didn't stop me throwing myself into AFL!

Showing my ignorance - where/when do they play? Can I fit it round my summer boogie-boarding?

Life's not boring, it's draft time again. The time of great optimism and debate.

The flat spot is between Pre season draft and about 1 month out from the season. December to end of January is about it.

                                179 days to go.
