Nicks plays his best football on a HBF where he can get the ball quickly up the field in conjunction with guys like Leo Barry and the less-flashy Ben Matthews. I'm not saying he should have been de-listed, as I said that last year and will happily say I was very wrong. But if he is not able to play the game that won his All-Australian standing on a HBF, he should not be in the side.

He can be useful in shorts bursts in the forward line. But he is not the answer to our present forward line malaise, as he misses too many easy shots and lacks the body strength to take marks in a pack situation. And lacks the leg speed of someone like Tadgh or Buchanan. Or the skills and goalkicking ability of an O'Laughlin or Davis, who to me looks set for a very productive year.

Unfortunately they never think of the team but look after themselves. Sydney is a charity institution - Maxfield, Fixter, James etc - These players wouldn't be on any other list and look at who they could have chosen instead.

Madswan you are right on the money with Willo.

He is our engine room, other sides know it, and he is clearly unfairly targeted regularly. The Rawlings cheap shot when Willo was on the ground was clear as a bell on replay. 2-4 weeks for the swine. And the media bag Kirk and Crouch as being unfair taggers. At least they don't go round belting their opponents.

Whilst I have always loved the guy, and recckon he deserved a shot at the captaincy, I think now is the best time for him to go.

He should have retired last year, but probably thought he had something left to give to the team. Right now he is a liability on the ground, even if he inspires off it.

My opinion is that first and foremost you should pick a captain that will be around for another 3-5yrs minimum, and during that time will always be in your top starting 22. If there is an element of doubt over this, you should look elsewhere. Talent and committement are key.

Only a handful of players currently fulfill this strictly: Hall, Barry, Kirk, Crouch, Goodes. Others are not skilled enough, too old, too injury prone, or possible trade bait.

Please Maxi... do as Schwatta did and step aside now.

He can not inspire the team if he spends most of his time on the bench. We might consider appointing him as one of our runners. That way he could both inspire the players from the field while is not a liability to the team.

Seriously, cannot find a reason for him not being dropped at all. The indispline is a real worry. I hope Roos's message is not getting old to the players.

i think maxfield should go before he makes an even bigger goose of himself.
He clearly is not up to the pace of the afl anymore, and its kinda sad to see.

He has been one of my favs, but unless theres a dramatic change in form he is wasting his and the swans time.

Have to agree with youI just arrived back from Canb and that game was there to be won but no-one provided the spark, it was time for a leader to stand tall but Maxfield just isnt up to it any more.
As for he's carrying an injury there are at least 3 players in the Ressies who could replace him so why play him if he's injured?

My Choice would be Goodes hes back to his best.

cant agree on goodes, at least not now, he has a lot of work to do on his own game. I would say Barry Hall he seems the only one you know is always giving his all and giving a contest, as Kirk has gone walk about a little this year thus far (and he is my other pick)

It doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere on RWO that I have seen but about a month ago the Sunday Sun Herald reported that Maxfield had separated from his wife and was either dating or living with a model. At the time, I wondered whether he would be captain considering what was happening off field.

Maybe his best performances are being made whilst not on the field.

I always had the impression that being such a hard trainer that nocturnal activity would not be affecting on field performances therefore maybe he is too slow for the game now or carrying an injury.

Next 4 weeks will tell.

A good servant to the club, but the future needs attention, sorry to say but he needs to lift or go. We can't carry players when there are youngsters who need the chance.
