Dont think the WC will come to that party. BTW What is a fair trade for Goodes? I honestly dont know. His position is quite unique and is very hard to judge his value. May be two top ten picks and a player. Is that too much of an asking?

Too much. Goodes can't kick, can't do hit outs, takes a few marks, can't play defense or forward. He can clear the ball though.
Absolutely trade Goodes. We should be able to get decent value for him.
As for delisting/retire:
James, Fixter, Buchanon, Nicks, Fosdike, Doyle, Maxfield, Ball, Sundqvist, Powell.
It seems like a lot but did Richmond not delist 10 last year?
It could be just what we need. We have been too soft on delistings for 5 years & have accepted mediocre performances instead turning the list over.

Who do we replace them with? Are you prepared for another two years worse than this one whilst they mature? Are you prepared for the possibility that after that, they turn out to be duds anyway?
People should really think through all of the implications before they make comments like this.
Dennis Pagan did a massive cleanout over the last two years at Carlton, and so far what has it got him? A Wizard Cup. And it *may* get better in a year or two. As he said after the weekend: "You want exciting football? Give me draft picks"

They also had a player perceived as being highly desirable who was desperate to leave - Ottens. He netted them two first round draft picks in addition to the ones they earned. Finishing bottom also gave them first crack at the pre-season draft.
Would only trade Goodes for 2 Top 10 picks, at least 1 in the top 3, or how would a direct swap for Mitchell sound. He has been linked to Sydney and would be the superstar our dropkick coach has been hunting for...
Goodes doesnt add as much to the team as his trade value is worth... i would love to see Mitchell at Sydney. Maybe Sam and a 1st Rounder for Goodes?
- Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Aside from the fact that his market value doesn't begin to approach his value to the team... who is the one player that is providing a useful option to kick to within scoring distance at the moment?
O'Loughlin straightens up the side at least a little bit - not nearly enough, but he is a part of the solution, not the problem. He is a required player.
Yep absolutely spot on.
Listen to all the names that have been mentioned. Gee we have some bad footballers.
Right at the moment I reckon Goodes is back to where he was a few years ago. He makes so many mistakes, and is a victim of the Roos game-plan as he was under Eade.

... Mitchell?
As in Sam Mitchell?
... For Goodes?
As in Adam Goodes?
I know that I'm forever reacting badly to trade suggestions... but surely we wouldn't allow ourselves to be taken for such a ride? Mitchell is a very talented young bloke, but I can easily name ten midfielders around the same age that are better than Mitchell... the names Judd, Ablett, Wells, Hodge, Ball, Hasleby, Dal Santo, Coughlan (despite last year's injury woes), Schammer and Cooney come to mind.

Yeah, Sam Mitchell is a good player but he is definitely not as good as Goodes in full flight.

He's having better seasons than all those players, and played one less game than the bulk.
He is an Eastern Suburbs boy from Melbourne through and through. There is no way he would go to Sydney for any price. Besides there are another 9 clubs in Melbourne who would be happy to outbid Sydney for his services.
Goodes had a couple of brain explosions in front of goals in round 10 and some boof heads on here, and I include my nephew P46 in that bunch, want to or would be happy see him traded.
Probably some of those boof heads were itching to have him go back into the ruck because that is where he plays his best footy and is a quality player, as they said.
One thing about Goodes is that he at least tries to make position, and on Saturday he ran 100 metres on a few occasions to present because the dills who held up the footy for half a quarter had no idea what to do with it and don't know what play on footy is. He worked his guts out to try to create something. He had the highest number of possessions and Into50's had 5 marks and 3 tackles. Possessions spread evenly over 4 quarters. He is clearly our most creative player around the ground, if not the only one (Willo is out)
All pie in the sky delusion for mine by people who know jack.

Vehemently disagree. Judd is the only one in front of him. And he wins infinitely more hard balls than Judd and the rest of those listed above, put together.
Judd, Ablett, Wells and Dal Santo are all matchwinners. Hodge and Coughlan are future captains of their clubs, and sooner rather than later. Luke Ball's skills are better, Hasleby has the runs on the board. Schammer and Cooney are admittedly somewhat speculative on my part. I agree that he's brilliant at winning the hard ball, though.
I wouldn't turn Mitchell away, by any stretch - but he hasn't exactly got anything that is unique, unlike Goodes.
