Well I'll be in line for a queue ticket on Saturday. I'm planning on going down there on Friday night (ATM anyway). As I mentioned, I will NOT be needing all 8 of the ticket allowance. I'm willing to help people out who will not be in Sydney etc, but of course it will depend on what queue number I get. I'm willing to post my queue number on Saturday morning and then help people out if possible.

We have to win on Friday night first!

There HAS to be phone bookings.

I'm a country member with Grand Final preference. When I paid that extra $20 or so for the preference I did read the stuff (can't find it now) but it clearly stated that those with prefernces (which includes cheer squad and Redbacks AFAIK) would get clear and ample opportunity to purchase BEFORE normal members. The whole point of getting GF preference is to AVOID queing at the G following the game and guarantee a ticket. Therefore there must be phone bookings otherwise what would be the point.

And more to the point, those with preferences would have to go along the que finding out who the normal members were and informing them that they can jump...which would be a bit awkward!

Just to clarify though, a GF preference does NOT mean a guaranteed ticket. Only Redback, Premiership and Sydneysider (?) members get guaranteed GF tickets when we make it. I'm a full club member with GF preference and will be lining up nice and early for my queue ticket because even though I have preference over non-GF preference members, there is still WAY too many preference members for everybody to get a ticket from my understanding.

It's going to a debacle with the NRL final on Sunday at Moore Park as well.

When will we find out the size of the allocation to Swans' members??

Do only full club members who didn't take up Premiership club etc have GF preference?

i.e what is the chance of getting a goddamn ticket??!!!!

Well Sharp9 said he/she is a country member with GF preference so it looks like it's NOT just Full Club members with GF preference.

                Bloody Hell, you're right!!!!!!!!!

GF preference means after Premiership Club and Bloods but before normal members. In theory there could be more members with GF preference than ticket allocation.

According to the letter which I have just accessed here

The only place selling tickets is the S.C.G.

If you can't get to the S.C.G. then you have to do it by phone at the same time (Sun 1.00 - 5.00)

If you are going to the S.C.G. you need to get a Queue Ticket at 9.00 on Saturday morning to ensure you are in the right queue on Sunday afternoon.

At least I was right about the phone bookings!

                  probably less than 10% ATM...

First we have to beat StK which IMO is about a 40% chance.

Then approx a 1 in 4 or 5 if you are a member without GF guarantee.

If you are a Premiership, Sydneysider, Bloods or Redback member then you have a 100% chance of getting a ticket as long as you turn up at the required times, pay your money and get the tickets.

As for GF prefrence members, to hard to say as there are just so many varibales:

                    * Will the G be ready to hold 95,000 on GF day, as hoped by the AFL?

                    * How many of our members are adults which effects the split done by the AFL?

                    * How many of our members have GF preference out of the total amount of memberships?

But based on rough numbers I can't see it being more than 7,000 for GF preference members to share in.

                      Very simple.

                      1) 5000 premiership club/sydneysider/redbacks members fight over (let's say) 12,000 tickets. This means that as long as you turn up during the appropriate buying window with your barcode letter, you are GUARANTEED a grand final ticket. The queue ticket is only relevant from the point of view of having earlier access to "good seats".

                      2) Any tickets left (let's say 7,000) are then released to 20,000 full members with GF preference. Doing a little calculations (carry the 1...) shows me that not everyone will get a ticket. Queue ticket position obviously v. important.

                      3) Any tickets left (let's say NONE) are then released to the general public.

Soooo.. Is anyone going to be queueing up for a "guaranteed" queue ticket and can squeeze me into their allocation of 8? It takes me an hour to drive to the SCG, and don't fancy doing it twice on consecutive days. Otherwise I think I'm pretty happy to just rock up early on sunday and take my chances with the seats in the nosebleed section.

Hah! Now that I've even thought it this far, it occurs to me that we still have a match to play on Friday night before all this fuss is necessary...

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Des, do you have Premiership Club? I've only got 2 to buy, so I could easily fit in a third.

I think the odds seem ok for GF preference, because I don't think realisticly more than 50% of swans members would be flying down to melbourne.. Basicly I will be arriving at the SCG at 11.30pm Friday if the swans win. Do you think it would be safe to say I will get a GF preference queue ticket? Also if you don't get a queue ticket can you still line up on sunday and hope that everyone who got one didn't buy 8?

adnar, I reckon 11:30pm will be okay, but I'm still planning on getting there earlier. Evil (soon to be ex)SIL made me miss 96 so I'm not missing this one.

My understanding is, that if you don't get a queue ticket on Saturday, you'll be issued one on Sunday and then cross your fingers that there will be enough tickets when your number finally gets called.

Yep, just the one prem club membership. If you are planning to grab a queue ticket, I'd love to sit in on it.

In exchange, I'll happily drive out to the SCG early Sunday to actually buy the tickets, and pick you up on the way!

Sounds good Des. If the Swans get up on Friday, I'll get us a queue tik on Saturday.

Now all we've got to do is hope the Swannies get up on Friday night. If so, then the prem club membership (which when Sydney last played St Kilda I was thinking was the most expensive umbrella I'd ever bought) will be money well spent.
