I think ROK is referring to the TV interview conducted straight after the final siren when he did indeed say he didn't know who kicked the goal.

The big question is, did Roos know it was a set play at the time or did he only realise after watching the tape?

I just did ... He says (in part) on the question "What are you going to say to Nick Davis" ... "Oh, I don't know ... I didn't know how he kicked the goal ... but it was a pretty good one!"

Yeah I'm watching it now, I've rewound it about 9 times and it definately sounds a lot more like who than how. Not 100% but pretty close

Do you remember how bad we were at the start of the year. Dreadful. Shocking. Some senior players were hopelessly out of form. I believe it cost us a top 2 spot and home finals.

            2) The leadership group is elected by the players not the coaching staff. As soon as they decided to rotate the captaincy you are not going to exclude some of those blokes form being allowed to show what they can do. A decesion like that would show a distinct lack of respect to the team who elected that person to the leadership group in the first place.
I'm sure Roos could have vetoed it, and should have. I mean really it was an embarrasing 2 games with him as skipper.

            3) Why can't people just face the facts with Schuable. He was not overly quick in the first place and constant injuries to his lower legs has meant he has by all accounts lost further pace despite playing well in the reserves. Schuable needs a full pre season with no injuries to work on getting back the strength and trust to go full out with his legs before returning to the AFL again (which incidently I think he can all going well pre season)
Possibly. But only last year he was the cornerstone of our backline. Remember near the start of the season he made some big statements about drugs in the papers, and has rarely been seen again.
He is my hobby horse, but I would hate to lose on friday if Gehrig stands in the goal square and boots 7 goals.

            4) What snub, Roos has praised Davis for his work end of story
            Fair enough.

                    or....

he actually didn't know who kicked it.

i was at the game i didn't have any f**ing idea until we stopped cheering - 20minutes later.

he could of just been applauding davis for what he thought was 3 goals in the quarter.

and about him saying it was a strategy im sure he didn't initiate with 10 seconds left "ok team run play 15211241" :P

I can't work out if the crustacean has transmogrified into Footyhead or Robert Walls. And apologies Barry - I can see when you'd want to say "fool" on this forum. Talk about eating your own.

My recollection was that Roos went on to say that he didn't know that a goal had been kicked at all. I'd kinda like to have a coach who wasn't watching the TV saying "wow, that's great" and "Benny and Kirky look so awkwards with the ball even when they kick well." And Roos said he was trying to shut the others in the coaches box up as he still had a game on and they were jumping around like idiots. Focused? What about the spectacle!

Na, you're right ROK. I'd prefer to have a coach in the box having a heart scare than a level headed one that immediately after the game Jason Ball said how much he'd enjoyed playing for. We're Sydney - we want colour and action and @@@@ substance.

I'm pretty certain he didn't know WHO kicked the goal - heck, on his own admission, he didn't know how long there was to play afterwards.

How that comment & the comment that it was a set play equates to Roos being either a liar or arrogant is a spectacular leap of crustacean logic.

Roos is probably the most self-effacing AFL coach I've ever encountered - but then a thread entitled "Is Roos really rather modest?" is not really gonna set the lobster among the pigeons is it?

It is much easier to follow what is happening on TV with the assistance of commentators. ROK saw it on TV, Roos watched it live. Draw your own conclusion.
Now this is really just a bit silly. You don't think the coaching staff don't know what is happening, like certain crowd members, particularly when there are a number of them plus they have a TV in their box!

Surely you're just posing that same old conundrum . . . that either Paul Roos is a half-wit . . . or you are??
