Can't say I have any sympathy for poor old UTS either.

Teams I've been involved with have always sung the song on the field, but that's probably because wins were so infrequent that we couldn't wait!

Wow, what a backlash. Not sure who said what on the weekend...I'm assuming someone said something to Moorebank in regards to singing their song on Trumper? Was it a player or official?

Personally, I don't know why anyone would say anything directly to anyone at Moorebank, clearly it's not necessary. As for you Pekay, Thainy obviously said something to you as you have a relationship of sorts (I'm assuming it's from the day he kicked 17 goals on you at Bensons Lane, or maybe Facebook?).

From the clubs point of view, we do not sing our song on the ground of any win. WE do find it to be a disrespectful act to other clubs and sure, we don't appreciate it when other teams sing their song on our ground. I agree with Pekay though that each club has the right to choose whether they do or don't sing their song on the ground.

As for JAYEFBE's comments...not much to be said to that. I will say that each time this happens, it does give us that extra bit of motivation to ensure it doesn't happen again.
In every game there is going to be a cross-road, and when you get to that cross-road you either step up, or you step down!

Mate I dont have a problem with UTS and have always been a fan of the way you have grown and generally gone about things. However Saturday one of you officials / coaches got in the face of one my players as we left the ground and to be honest it very nearly escalated into an incident none of would have wanted. As you have said it was not necessary.

It's very rare for a Premier Division team to sing the song on the field these days. They may do it if they've won all three grades, an increasingly rare event with the divisional structure, often not even then.

I've seen other divisions doing it - often because the team is sharing a room with a team from another club, and the other club haven't come out for the next game yet.

Was just a good chance for a sledge batman. I guess your club does things your way and other clubs don't do things the same. It's no disrespect to UTS. Perhaps, UTS should respect that other clubs do things differently.

Your right, hearing the other teams song for the losing club can only provide motivation, I'm sure you hear it loud and clear wether it is sung on the field or in the sheds at Trumper, can't see what the difference is personally.

When was this? I don't seem to recall having 17 goals on me by Thain. i do, however, recall having 8 kicked on me by him to half time, then, in a coaching stroke of genius, Pottsy our coach put me up forward, where I took a hanger on Mints and kicked 2 goals, 1 off my right and the other outside 50. Although, my memory is hazy of that day. And, after months of therapy, looks like a nightmare I will be reliving in my sleep for many more years to come.
As for my threats to Thainy in the return game, where I said if he kicked the set shot I'll de-friend him on Facebook. He missed, on purpose, and we remain friends to this day.

Ever tried singing the song in the sheds at St Pauls Oval after beating Syd Uni?

As far as I can remember over all the years of playing / watching footy in Sydney teams have belted out the song on the ground and no one ever cared good luck to them they won. You lose you suck it up, you win you sing it loud and proud ...arm in arm on the ground again in the sheds even on the bus who cares! My advice to all clubs after beating UTS, sing it on the ground it really annoys them lol, if your lucky you may see a few of them tear up or better still give you 'the look'. I'd have to agree with those sentiments.

UTS can get stuffed. What a pretentious pack of self-important whingers they have become.

As was pointed out earlier, it hasn't taken them long to forget their own beginnings - ie when they themselves were one of those lower division clubs.

There is now all the more motivation to sing the song on the ground at Trumper. Too bad if the clowns don't like it.

What are you complaining about - there are two, um, dressing rooms up toward the gate on City Road. You could fit half of your team in one of them, and half in the other and sing it in a round.

On a side note this thread makes me think of one of my most embarrasing footy memories. Cant rememnber the year but at the start of it, John Livy(then head of Sydney footy) decreed that st george werent good enough to be in the comp and were to be kicked out immediately, after an appeal he made us play a trial match against penno and if we werent competitive we were gone. Luckily we beat penno and stayed in the comp.

Anyway, we finally got to play Norths after a few rounds at North Sydney Oval and at the final siren the score board had us up by a point.Livy was at the ground with a delegation from the AFL and all of our players plus supporters went and sung the song in front of the stand and gave him a nice old spray and plenty of one fingered salutes. Goal umpires were still in the middle of the ground checking the score and yep the score board was wrong and it was a draw. We snuck off the ground pretty quick and the Norths supporters gave us heaps. Wish we had of sung the song in the sheds then.

And if you got raped on the footy field, as Thainy did to me that day, you'll find the good points are all you have to cling to. He's a freak.

Back on the topic, there's still a few songs missing. Surely we can get them in!
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
