Withers is staying, Baker,Wilson are gone and Parker looks like heading back home from what he tells me but maybe Eagles have the money to keep him up here.... The Little Bird is back in town spoiler and will definately be a good replacement to continue the development of our young players after Garns.

Unfortunately ECE won reserve grade last year, why do they need further reserve graders in Wilson & Baker?

Gee i hope Rooboy heads out to Kellyville, one step closer to meeting in person then. Wouldn't mind lifting a wing this early in pre-season.

Has there been a "dock up" with the Wilson situation? Are the Dockers "salem" close to the wind? Has the Bird flown back to the North Coast?

The bird hasnt flown anywhere Spoiler. Think youll find Salem has the wests job too. The other situation i dont know if there is anything in it unless he signed a contract, which would be an interesting situation as i know that all players from Campbelltown are contracted untill the end of November. Not that the powers at be would do anything about it. happens every year.

Can anybody share there thoughts on if Salem did get the job or does what they think of it? I know as a player who has played against him, my thoughts are he was far from a role model on the field, let alone coaching the entire team? I know his experience in Canberra, if i'm not corrected, could be of some value though. Just a thought..
Looking dangerous in the forward 50

Salem would bring the most important attribute of a coach to any non-AFL team - connections. He would have met a lot of players over the years. The best coach in the world is useless without a decent team. The ability to buy a team is just not possible eg ECE and thus connections is vital. I am surprised he would have the time to coach considering he is a very busy lawyer I hear. Intelligence, footy experience.....he does tick quite a few boxes.

Are you saying that ECE have bought all the decent ones already Coastal Boy?You have to remember 25% of all ECE players wages goes into the hat at Hillsong every sunday.

Bit suprised that Wests arent out there doing there best, your previous coach Kev was very active in the area of poaching & with the big Leagues club dollars behind, managed to get a few players across.

hi all been long time between posts and have had to read through alot of garbage as well... rumors that heading to wests as just that rumors... to win a flag in sydney is still high on my list but moving back to melb was planned 2 years ago... but with kanga going out to kellyville has changed alot especially after playing there through the sagas we encountered before that... time will tell and no doubt kanga will have an input.....

No, I am just saying money alone does not win you premierships. IMO any team at this level needs 3 things: money, connections and juniors. To clarify this, connections refers to the ability to attract walk-ins or get first bite at the paid imports. Teams like St George and Penno are reknowned for their strong junior base. Wests and Balmain have achieved success with a good bankroll. Norths and Easts have had the connections. Some teams like Campbelltown have previously had good cash and good juniors and even connections: hence their great success in the 80s/90s. Generally IMO you need 2 out of 3 to win a premiership. This would explain the lack of success from such teams as Penno, Wests, Balmain and St George in the past 30 years(to name but a few teams).

You say Kev poached players.....which ones??????......If he did have better connections he may have had a couple of premierships...however he may not have had the opportunities there(but thats another story)./

Heaps from all reports. Kassems from Parra, Mac Uni B & F plus others.

Anyone know which club The Great Eynaud will grace with his presence next year.

Also took Adam Fiddler - sorry, got him back after he was poached.

Withers came across with Fiddles due to their friendship - I've heard similar with Lees.

Troy Cole wasn't happy at Balmain prior to coming to Wests.

And the Kassems, I was under the impression that the Goannas were losing quite a few players and the opportunity to play in a higher league was an attraction.

But anyhow, what's wrong with it, it's up to the individual at the end of the day.
                              Oh crikey!

IIRC, the year the Kassems went over was the year the Goannas had that coach whose father played 250 fantasy football games for St Kilda. They lost a lot of players around then.
