Yes, @@@wit. I priced myself out of the market. My asking price of 2 mars bars and a can of coke is apparrently too high in these tough economic times.

Big loss for the Demons right there.
Here's the story from The Border Mail.

"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

Big show. I cant believe you let so many first graders just leave your club??
you are paying ridiculous money to shmit, who has been injured for all of this year.

            My question to you is....

You have lost players such as turner, jones, dickens, ryan, napper, o'brien.
2 of those are rams players. And all can play. And are around the 19 - 22 year old mark...

If you wanted to build a culture at balmain, why on earth would you let so many of these players go?

Big Show, haven't they all gone to Melb to try their luck in better standard comps?? Surely a Sydney club would encourage players to test themselves.

Back home, we never stood in the way of a player wanting to play VFL. We supported them. Theory being, if they come back, they will come back to your club.

Dont worry they will be back, they wont be picked up for the VFL.

I doubt any of them would get a senior VFL spot - there are only a few standalone clubs so realistically you are competing with AFL list players so the very best most can hope for would be a ressies game. And of the standalone clubs Pt Melb always attracts quality ex AFL footballers.

If any have travelled their with the belief it may aid in them getting drafted they are seriously deluded.

Well I can't comment on Balmain "letting these players go" and considering you then just said that two of them have made it on to VFL lists???? Surely its a good thing?

I am not sure you guys truly understand the standard of footy here in Syd. Almost every league in Melb is stronger than SFL. Kids from a club leave to play better standard footy and you guys think Balmain are doing something wrong?

Sure, so many senior players leaving at the one time is not great timing, but what would a club say 'Sorry, don;t go and test yourself in a better league"??

Balmian seem to be trying to rebuild their club and by attracting AFL players into the league, surely this will only help Sydney Footy grow and develop into a stronger league.

When my twins boys are old enough to play senior footy (assuming they don't get my genes and can kick both feet) I'd love for Sydney footy to be at a level where its seen as a league to play in, not just because we live here, but because its a strong league.

Surely thats what people want to see, a stronger Sydney comp AT ALL LEVELS??

Mate it sure is true that balmain didnt stand in the way of those players trying there hand in the VFL as much as we would love to have them all back you have to encourage them to push themselves. Those blokes are going to die wondering if they were good enough to mix it in the best second teir league in australia.Balmain is in constant contact with the boys and fully support their quest and would welcome them back to the dockyard in a second. And if they do well it only pumps up the sydneyafls profile and may send more blokes up to us.If you where a great young footballer playing at balmain i believe you would love the support to push yourself thats why balmain send promising under 18s to the western australian football league to train and try there luck.

hawknik mate cheesepuf(yole) is a very passion filled bloke who is proud of balmain and although some of his rants where misguided he was my first point of contact with the dockers and couldnt build the dockers up enough. He has put alot of time and effort into the balmain dockers in the past and we are very greatfull. But in saying that david has moved on and we wish him the best of luck with his future quests and we now have a brand new commitee with very driven and proud clubmen at the helm.Who have structures in place to weed out negativity and promote the docker brand on and off the field they have put in countless hours planing the future direction of the club and getting the right people on board ie saddo and schmitt. The balmain dockers where a mess as a club but i believe those @@@@ty negative years are in the past and the club and commitee have got it very right this time.cheers

if i could take my balmain jumper off for a second, growing up in sydney all i heard about was rugby league the cronulla sharks manly sea eagles and parra eels. But correct me if im wrong but did i read that southern power now has 3 senior grades, manly has four grades and parra under tassie has three grades.Thats awesome news to field so many teams in the rugby heartlands these clubs must be doing a hell of alot of work of the field to promote the game congrats and keep it up that way we can use the league grounds as carparks.
