No. You have got to draw the line somewhere.
But that's just my opinion.
As I have tried to point out, to little avail it would seem, I actually agree with the cause. I know enough about Balmain to think that the club needs to be rescued (for want of a better word).
I just don't agree with the method.Comment

Everyone in Australian has the right to protest, as long as it is peacefully done.
If the same happened to me and I was an opposition player then I would accept it and applaud the players for taking that stand. Where I would draw the line is
violence.Comment

For what it is worth, I have thought that very few of the hard-hitting questions put on this thread have been answered but that is immaterial.
So a week has passed ... apart from be on this forum (and Facebook) all week ... what else have the dissidents done this week? It was mentioned that they were having a meeting with the league on Thursday ... what was the result there? There have been a few training sessions & no doubt endless discussions as well ... are the 11 players still 100% in favour of their actions? I understand that there is an AFL employee amongst that "Balmain 11" ... how is he feeling with respect to his employment obligations & does he expect any further ramifications for the role that he played? What has been the result this week of discussions with current management? (I assume that you would have at least made some form of contact to start the mediation process). Are there any actions planned this week at the match against St George? Finally, or in summary, where to from here?
PS I had the man flu this week & got sick just thinking about doing work ... so I just want to say thank you for the entertainment!Comment

If so could we have your side of the story as I am loathed to believe anything until I've heard both sides.Comment

Mr taxman has nothing to do with the current board of Balmain and if pretty well known around Sydney AFL - Pretty sure that almost everyone that is posting here from Balmain know who he is by now. Any Mr Taxman is his real name - try doing some research - he is providing some good advise here free of charge i thoughtComment

He is not one of the board members. They actually voted against putting him in as treasurer (mistake - you had at least 1 vote).
But I think their process has been stepped out and was at the desperate stage.
I think the hardest hitting question that was not answered was asked by Tiges.
He asked for a 1 word answer to a simple question and from memory nobody could do that! Just one word, seems to be the hardest hitting question of them all.
So I will ask it again. If all avenues had been followed and failed, and you were about to lose your club. Would you do anything you could to save it?
Remember 1 word only , YES or NOComment

The 11 players are still holding together strong and very much behind the cause. As are the rest of the playing group. Despite our results this season we are a tight group. As for the AFL employee, I'll let him answer that question.
The news I've heard is that the NSW/ACT AFL will be administering the AGM this year and have asked for a list of current paid members. I see this as a massive win for the club.Comment

Now now Ancient ... I don't believe that I was ever put up to be treasurer of the club ... although for the record for everyone else on the forum, I was asked to help with short-term financing about 3 years ago but was unable to assist as it was at the tail-end of the GFC.Comment

I was under the impression you had expressed an interest. It was discussed and voted against, so I am not sure who or how that process started then. But you had my vote in any case.
And yes pretty happy with the result from the AFL, just not with the pre suspensions.
With regards to the question there have been a lot of detailed opinions, but no one really put their hand up for a one word answer. Not in the NO category anyway!Comment

PS Dockers to win by 25 against St George now (as all the boys were clearly at home instead of the pub on a Friday night!)Comment

One thing is for certain, these boys inspired 5 club presidents, multiple life members and many previous players to join and coordinate an approach alongside today's group to fight for the club.
These are the people who built the club into a successful business and culture, and people have been disillusioned and lost to the game because of this board, and now they are back and hungry to help the new generation.
This one act has brought at least 30 people back to the game to help create positive change. Believe me there is a lot going on behind the scenes, and not 1 person from the past has come out to support the administration. The heart of the club is back and we will fight!
I truly understand that people from the outside may not agree with the course of action, but they don't really know how big the problem is, nor the allegations that have been made, which we of course cannot comment on in this forum.
This one act has inspired the Balmain faithful to get on board and not give up! Sound like the Balmain of old?

Why wasn't the $4.4M asset better protected from possible misappropriation by a better club constitution?Comment
