Ancient Tiger, I'm a paid member of BAFC and I'm looking forward for the BAFC AGM to vote the current board off.. So when's the AGM happening?

My understanding from the constitution is that it's supposed to happen with 7 days notice by 1 December at the latest. It's the 26th today, so 7 days notice from now puts it to the 3rd of Dec...

The AFL have decided (with no real surprise) to put Balmain in Div 1 & Div 3 in 2014. The playing group are looking forward to rebuilding the culture of the club making it a club that is about the players and supporters in an inclusive environment that embraces our juniors, and we are told on advice that the key players and coaching staff will be sticking around.

There are also a few former players who are interested in coming back to the club to assist, if the club is given back to the players that is!

The committee/board that have wreaked havoc on the state of the club in recent times are still yet to call an AGM....I think it is time for the powers to be to revoke the license and give it to the players who have already set up a professional governance structure if handed the license.

      Hi Steiger,

The current board refused to answer any questions in the information meeting last week and when we persisted they bolted out the door. The notice we received was to discuss the previous 12 months and the future of the club, but the second part was never discussed except to say that they said January for the AGM.

I have never seen such a gutless response by a board in addressing their members concerns.

Strangely enough the administrator and the solicitor for the club left together in the same car, which is very strange. The administrator was appointed by the solicitor and the property developer also has ties to the solicitor.

It is time for the AFL to step in, step up and revoke their license and give it to a group of people with a genuine interest in the club and the game itself.

The playing group leaders are happy to rebuild and re-brand the club, and if given the chance there are a lot of former club people out there wanting to help. Let's just hope the AFL step up to the plate.

Hope you are right but don't hold your breath waiting for NSWAFL leadership.

Any chance that they can let you play in Balmain again as opposed to the Newtown mob?

"What the hell does this have to do with promoting GWS ...?"

Sorry, but that is the clear thought process from anyone involved in AFL administration, Sydney, NSW or above, so you can guess their interest in this little zephyr ... it will blow itself out soon enough!

I'm surprised Saviour01 hasn't mentioned it on here, that apparently Mudge is off to Wests and taking some cattle with him? Said the same thing on bigfooty.

See my earlier post and earlier earlier post on this topic. New entity & take the players with you. Checkmate current adminsitration and Sydney AFL if they are sitting on their hands. A lot of sand has passed through the hourglass though.......time doesn't stand still.

Think Saviour01 is smoking the wrong pipe.

I've only been down to training once and Mudge wasn't there and no talk about it. But post season there was big talk he was going and taking lyca and a few others.

Ancient, I don't reckon the SAFL would touch this with a barge pole.
It's about the property dealings of a failed minor league poker machine club and really has nothing to do with our footy.
I remember a thread that we had running here (since deleted by Norris) where there was real fighting talk about legal eagles circling, Corporate Affairs (ASIC), and hey, remember the bit about how the Sunday Telegraph investigative journalist was preparing an expozay for a couple of weeks hence ?
Fast forward and all that's happened is (1) the players walked (2), the SAFL suspended them for bringing the game into disrepute (or something) and (3) Balmain has been dropped to Div 1. And now you tell us that the existing board is fiddling around deciding when to hold the AGM, but that you have to wait for the existing board to make that call.

Seems to me that the SAFL is responsible for a footy comp, and talks FOOTY with the board that is elected by the members. If the board is dodgy then it's up to the members to sort it out with the board, or elect a new board (that's why we live in a democracy....because that's how things work here).
If the board is dodgy then the members sort it out; if the board is SERIOUSLY dodgy then, hey, it's an incorporated body and has to function within the law. And that is a matter for Corporate Affairs (ASIC) if it might be in breach of the law.

Maybe it all smells a bit but I can't imagine that the SAFL would want to go anywhere near that snakepit.

Silly me - I went so far as to look on Google Maps as to how to get from Cherrybrook to South Coogee...that was on that lost thread too wasn't it ?
Like so many on this thread, I want to get back to the Yellow-and-Black from old Tigerland...my son and I have operated the scoreboard at Drummoyne because your people couldn't find anyone to do it !
Go hard at the AGM, get that website updated from August 3rd with some good news, and get some FOOTY happening at the club rather than just "spin". Get some REAL sponsors and some REAL juniors. And recognize those girls for their efforts in the 2013 finals.
