We had a fence down incident against Moorebank in 09 resulting in a head count, thankfully his black and white colours meant Moorebank's score was reduced to 0. Which I think it was anyway.

And Uni boys always complain when they have to travel out to Bensons.....too much strain on their scooter engines.

Our Div 5 side is devastated, now being unable to take the beautiful drive to the Shire and enjoying the undulating hills that are Gwawley. Instead, we have to now head to Bensons and put up with aircraft noise which is almost as loud as Pekays chest beating.

PS: Just checked the mail and the wedding invitation still hasn't arrived. Bloody Australia Post.

Any reports on trial matches on the weekend or were they all washed out?

Oh they can expect further devastation! As we only serve mid strength to your lot.
We headed down to Canberra to face Eastlake Demons 3/4 grade. Very well skilled and had a few very experienced blokes lining up for them, including a Frankston VFL player who brought his own footy.
For us, about 5 fellas new to footy and in all, about 12 new to the club, we battled it out and handed the Shield back but gained plenty out of the match.

Parking is always a problem down at No 1. But your Norwest boys will be able to park your Massey Fergusons in the Uni maintenance sheds - they'll never know.

Tommy Reddin is a champion bloke - you won't get much better. He started his professional career at the Goannas back around 1999-2000 whilst still studying at uni. A competitive beast but only when he crosses the white line - he may have won a flag with Mac Uni?? Great to see him back in Sydney and involved in footy after stints at NSW Cricket & the A-League.

Congratulations to Balmain for getting themselves together and winning both grades against the Power.

I was a little surprised and very impressed. In the one's, Power had few answers. Div 1 looks like a very even comp at this early stage.

Not sure how even it will be if Balmain are beating the reigning premiers by 80 points!

Great news to see the guys from Balmain get the two wins.

It's going to be a long trek back to get the Tigers where they belong, back in Balmain and at Drummoyne Oval, and this is a huge shot in the arm for all their hard work over the off-season to reclaim their club from that grub....

Let's hope some proper justice can also come out in due course but for now they can celebrate their success and rightly so, just surviving let alone thriving is a massive achievement given that they have been through

Great to see the tigers back in action and thanks to all for your support of the club in helping turn itself around from the "grub" as put best by Mug. Awesome to see so many old faces come back to Balmain now the rot has gone, and it has been heartfelt by the group from the genuine concern and support for Balmain over the last 6 months by the rest of our footy community. So for that we sincerely thank you all.

Still a long road ahead, we have been down and out before and now have dedicated club men (both men and women) who have done a brilliant job in keeping the 110 year history alive and have the best interests of the club and the sport in mind.

It would the feelgood story of the year if Balmain could win the Div 1 this season - yeah know it is only one win and the season is a long one.

Do you have any formal goals for the new club? Personally I think Balmain was ideally placed as a top tier 2 club - back in the SFA days they were always in the GF and had a great sense of community.

Is returning to Drummoyne a priority? I would think it would almost be essential for the club's long term future, probably in tandem with the squatters but that's OK, whether you like it or not they are probably not a direct competitor these days.

What is the status of your relationship with the juniors (Drummoyne)?

You are such a f---ing bore. Uni are playing a whopping five games there this year. No training, nothing else - just five Saturdays. We play three at BISP. Are we squatters there too? The AFL have directed us to play at those venues - they won't play NEAFL at Henson so what can we do? If it were up to us we would never leave No. 1 but it will take a million bucks to get it up to standard. Neither we nor SUSF have those funds at our disposal at this time.

Our relationship with Drummoyne is Solid. We have had at least one player coach one of their teams over the last few years. We have had a presence at their rego day and our 1st grade skipper who happens to be a Drummoyne Old Boy and 150 gamer for Drummoyne attended their season launch "Pie night" last night. The feedback I have received from Drummoyne about our presence last night has been nothing but positive. Drummoyne have also reached out to us to extend their support if we require it. So it's definitely a 2 way relationship where both parties know what's required of each other and we hope to develop that further in the future.

With Glebe, we have also had players coaching there over the last few years. I'm not totally across what's going with Glebe as another club member is managing that relationship but I know we're also in a strong position with Glebe, and we intend to build on that relationship also.

Should we even try to head back to Drummoyne Oval after everything that's happened? It makes no difference to all of the new players we have if we play there or not. Drummoyne is undoubtedly a great facility. Being such a great facility makes it very popular and our position puts us at the bottom of pile when it comes to access. That's not a bad thing, we're after a fresh start so we can find a another oval that we can develop with the council.

The bottom line is, Henson is NOT our home ground and we will be doing everything we can to find another suitable oval in the local area, not Marrickville's local area...

Fair enough, good luck in finding a new home. Totally agree that Henson Park is not the way forward.

And Student, is it beyond you to see how playing yoru own home games at a neighbours home ground is poor form that smacks of your club's arrogant entitlement? How about you develope your onw poxy little ground at Number 1 or get your power hungry SUSU build an AFL standard venue rather than pick the carcass of another club.
