And Student, is it beyond you to see how playing yoru own home games at a neighbours home ground is poor form that smacks of your club's arrogant entitlement? How about you develope your onw poxy little ground at Number 1 or get your power hungry SUSU build an AFL standard venue rather than pick the carcass of another club.
What part of "the AFL directs us to play there" don't you understand?

Unfortunately our hands are tied as we don't have millions of dollars like Hills spent did on Purser, Balmain on Drummoyne etc. Then there is rugby who also use the ground which is another issue entirely. But I don't know why I am bothering to justify this to you because you just carp on and on about the same things, issues that have no effect on you or whatever club it is that you are (or were) involved with. Everyone here gets it - you don't like SU or the 'power hungry SUSF' (whatever that means). And of course, you hate the NEAFL - again not that it has anything to do with you. Actually I find it ironic that you are so allegedly invested in the game in Sydney but hate GWS and the NEAFL. Typical know nothing Swans fan, I suppose. You're probably writing an angry letter to Andy about the CoLA at this very minute.

Can Balmain share Drummoyne Oval with Sydney Uni?
If the league has kicked Balmain off to accommodate SU then I think there is a problem because that's grossly unfair.
What happened to the rumour that a ground at Syd Uni main campus would be redeveloped to a level suitable for NEAFL?

Drummoyne is undoubtedly a great facility. Being such a great facility makes it very popular and our position puts us at the bottom of pile when it comes to access. That's not a bad thing, we're after a fresh start so we can find a another oval that we can develop with the council.
Even Balmain isn't fussed about getting back to Drummoyne....everyone seems to be over it, except for Mug Punter.

Student, I don't know either as to why you justify yourself about this because, you're right, Mug Punter will just keep on carping on about it, even though it's no concern of his/hers.
He/she seems to have no interest in our footy other than to go on and on about stuff that isn't very interesting to the rest of us.

Of course they could - we are there for five days a year. I sincerely doubt they were booted off for us. I have no idea what it costs to hire but perhaps that was prohibitive for the Tigers?

Feasibility studies are being done on an upgrade to No 1 as far as I know - rugby is having a nice little rectangular stadium built up where No 2 is which should be ready for next season. This alleviates one of our main problems which is access to the oval in winter, and also the terrible quality of the surface. I think the plan is cut out some of the embankment around the ground, extend the ground by 7-10 metres and resurface it. But it will cost a lot and we will need support (money!) from a lot of stakeholders to make it happen. I think we'd be looking at 2017 at the absolute earliest.

Um Student, Hills don't own the ground and certainly didn't contribute $1M clams. It is a council ground, built by council with contributions made by the AFL, Cricket NSW and Hills Eagles. The ground is also shared between Cricket (Hurricanes) and a junior football club (Kellyville / Rouse Hill) so we are not the only tenant. But I digress. I still don't see the issue with Syd Uni playing their games at Drummoyne and I also don't see why they cant be a co-tenant with Balmain.

Bottom line ..... Mug punter is a sad old man with nothing good to say about anything bar the way things use to work ..... A good addition however for all forum onlookers because of his wonderful "smart" comments

I would have assumed as much - I was being a little facetious, no club could have a first class venue as good as BPO or Drummoyne without the help of the various agencies. Yet for some reason MP is happy to pot Sydney Uni and expects SUSF or the Uni itself to spend a million bucks to upgrade the 'poxy little ground'. Quite rightly they've told us no for the time being, so we've got to somehow engage those stakeholders like everyone else. It's not going to be easy!

TimF, the word on the streets is that Purser is to have a tasty looking clubroom complex built on the western side near the coaches boxes.
Who will stump up the "readies" for that ?
