Ok guys lets talk footy, who are to be the big improvers and who are going to be the big sliders in each division?.
I think UTS and Sydney Uni will be the big improvers in an SFL that is looking pretty much the haves and have nots this year. Penno will continue to improve, it's just what they do with their wealth of juniors and first rate administration and you'd think ECE, under the astute new management of the Peter Physick team will continue their rebuild but they ,ay slip a little on field. Saints should be competitive and Manly should maker the finals.
Norths don't seem to have recruited overly well this year and I can see both Wests and UNSW having long years so I see those three fighting amongst themselves for the spoon.
As a general trend I think we are going to see the SFL clubs, Penno, Sydney Uni and UTS in particular starting to dominate the lower divisions at the expense of the old SFA clubs, it's just the power of numbers. Blacktown could be an improver and Randwick seem to have really slowed off with their development. I don't expect to see any of the Western Sydney teams make and great strides due to the parlous state of the game in the region but I hope I am wrong there.
And for all the investment in Auskick and AFL generally in Sydney we still cannot get the same number of Under 19 teams that we had on the paddock 30 years ago. It's both an indictment on the game's management and a reflection of just how tough a sporting market Sydney is but I won't be surprised to see Div 2 Under 19s becoming a complete and utter shambles by season end.
Dugmore was st George spearhead b4 ece took him then later syd uni........ok so two and two would suggest you are talking about Llyod Peris......swans list to play for st George?
Certainly is, well done on getting that over the line. Dylan is still only 28 years old so you'll get great value out of him, he should absolutely tear it up this year
Luke Gemmell is another big name in the clearances for Baulko. He played for Baulko in the NEAFL then went to Ainslie in the NEAFL. I saw him playing NEAFL for Ainslie last year - big bullocking ruckman who would dominate in our comp (though i think the new Dragons recruit would have his measure !).
Browning in staying At Baulko so they will have a strong ruck division - those two have rucked together at Baulko in the past.
From what I can gather UTS are really just filling that gap in the Eastern Suburbs after East Sydney made their idiotic decision to let UNSW take them over thus destroying over 100 years of history. Of course they play out of Trumper too and making themselves the SA/VIC preferred College Boy destination is another point of differentiation. They are a weird club because my understanding is that the UTS connection is tenuous at best both in terms of the number of students they have and also the involvement the Uni has, financial and otherwise.
At some point you'd think their weight of numbers would translate into results at PD level but to date they have underwhelmed
The decision was more or less forced on East Sydney by the league's "stupid" idea to allow the Swans reserves into the comp. That brainwave lasted a year before the Swans left for the ACTAFL, yet the Sydney AFL declared Trumper unacceptable as a Premier grade ground along with demands relating to monetary turnover. We weren't "taken over" and it's easy to look back in hindsight. The move led to back-to-back flags in Premier grade 2002/03 and a twos flag.
Pekay, it was a decision forced upon the Bulldogs by the University that seems more interested in building flats for wealthy Asian students than Aussie Rules at present.
As I understand it, they require the VG for 2016 as a construction base. There has been no cricket there either!
Every other ground was accounted for...particularly with juniors commitments.
Bit harsh that another scribe would prefer to troll on here instead of seeking the facts.
I don't speak for the club but the boys are grinning and bearing it.
On a good day, it'd be less than half an hour on the M5 from Todman Ave.

Thanks for the clarification Seagull and all the best for your makeshift season.
Village Green serves up the best meat pies in Sydney footy (comparable with Sydney Uni anyway), and McDonalds is just a short walk down the driveway. I hope you will be supplying these quality foods at Kelso to those of us who have to travel a long way to get there.

Fair call. I don't know why people think going to Kelso a big deal. Always surprised when I get to our ground in the morning 2 hours prior to the first game and half an away team is already there. "Got a great run, thought it would take heaps longer". It's unfortunate about losing a ground for a season but you have to do the best you can. Good club, good guys the Bulldogs
