Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.
Reasonable result for a seriously undermanned lot. I agree with those who picked out Moore, Brabazon and Grundy as young'ns with short term potential. Jack will take longer but will be worth waiting for. Noggy and ROK looked rusty but will be there when it counts. Doyle improving, hope he stays fit.
Dempster will play - he has poise for his relative inexperience.
Goalkicking practice for ROK and Adam Prior.
LRT doesn't look fluent but gets through a lot of work. I agree with those who think Vogels could be a useful backman - but I also think he could be a more useful forward than Superted - they can both play at either end eh?
When you think of who's to come back I'm not unhappy.
Yes, not much of a spectacle, but that's not why I watched it.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
I thought our new crop of look-a-like blonde kids did very well today, all things considered. Certainly get an A for effort, even if the skills and decision-making fell well short of the mark. Personally I reckon the Roos ought to be downright embarrassed by the scoreline considering some of the experience and talent they had out there.
Heck just one of Barry Hall, Nick Davis or Adam Goodes would have probably turned the game in our favour, and we have a lot more than just those three still up our sleeve.
It was good to see the young kids on the telly with some commentary on them.
IMO Brabazon was the best of the newies with Jack and Laidlaw close behind him.Grundy certainly has potential and will be a player one day.
I was disappointed with Vogels whom I have alot of time for. When Dermie pointed out that the Breadman was holding his opponent as he went for the ball it was clear and that was disappointing as I think Vogels could be a good back up defender.
It took a while before I knew Malceski was playing...disappointing.
Spriggs did well and I don't think Garubba has improved much since his Under 18 days.
I think our youngsters did us proud after all they were playing a near full strength Kangaroos unit who have alot of experience
Just got back from Canberra and the thing that really stuck out to me was the lack of pace all around the ground whether it be in leading, running through the middle or when our backmen were chasing their markers. Vogels looked slowish today, LRT drifted a little down back - the Roos always seemed to have an extra unmarked man back there and sometimes Lewis had just drifted off and was caught in no mans land.
When they were trying to take it out from defence there were not enough options being created down the line - instead there was this huge gaping space that no one wanted to run into at times.
I thought Super Ted had a poor game really - hands were not clean for most of the match and spilt too much easy ball.
A lot of the little blokes did well in that match and their skill levels look promising. All in all a good hit out but next week will be interesting.
Our skills were ordinary across the board, very frustrating to watch.
I like the look of Brabazon and Thornton but generally was disappointed that none of the youngsters really stood up to demand selection.

My Pokemon brings all the boys to the yard and they're like "Wanna trade cards?"
"Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I can beat you, I've got Charizard!"
Originally posted by Charlie He's not necessarily in our best six backmen. Barry, LRT, Kennelly and Bolton are all clearly ahead of Dempster. Crouch will be selected back there, and then it comes down to Mathews or Dempster. I suspect our opinions will differ to Roos' on that score.
Nevertheless, he will probably play... he's just not a certainty.
The whole problem with your dismissal of Dempster is you're basing it on him being a defender. Stunning really, given he played at least half his games as a run-with midfield player - sometimes wonderfully successful (Heath Black, Daniel Wells), sometimes not quite (Cousins GF).
I saw none of the game from my home near Dandenong.
I was looking forward to watching the game when I heard the thunderstorm approaching after 1 pm. As a precaution I shut both of my computers down around 1.30.
A minute later my electricity went out. It stayed out all afternoon. I was reduced to listening to the radio where I got regular score updates on the ABC. My power was still out at 6.30 when I went out for the evening.
I was mostly interested in seeing how the rookies went. Thanks to the discussions here, I have a bit of an idea now; I'm especially looking forward to seeing what Moore will do this year (He's from a club local to me).

Correct!
It was hot and players looked seriously blown when they came off - particularly seniors. The intensity was way down in comparison to the NSO game also.
Most disappointing thing IMO was the leading. Perhaps the fwds didn't have any faith in midfield to hit a target, or they were too hot and tired. With all the blond hair, and inability hit a target in the Fwd50 I thought I was watching the Hawks.
It was ordinary all around the ground, frankly there wasn't anything good to comment on other than the weather was nice and the beers were cold.
