I agree - if you don't appreciate great footy, no matter who is playing it, it's time to stop watching.

About six times during the Port game I called out that it was a great mark. Too bad it was a Port player every time.

I will verbally acknowledge a good piece of play, or a good goal/mark by the opposition, but I very very rarely actually clap it.

I can appreciate it, but there's no way known I'll actually encourage the opposition with applause

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I will golf clap a decent goal or mark by the opposition. Most times the Eagles' supporters think I am one of them.

I'm with you on this one Des. Don't want to encourage them, but have to acknowledge good play.

Yep same here. But i usually greet the acknowledgment with profanity before it.. "F U Great mark." "F Hell great goal U Bastard" and so on...

Yeah, this is my approach. I don't mind clapping as I assume that the teams are unlikely to notice the sound I make...

I like it when I can say to Mrs L, "it's not so bad, he's in my dream team".

That was my positive - Chad Cornes dominated and Hall did nothing - gave me my victory!!

My mum bought a membership last year because she wanted to spend more time with us - apparently quality is not important. She frequently arrives at quarter-time and leaves at three-quarter time ("too much swearing"), and enjoys the occasional glass of chardonnay somewhere in between. She never goes when it rains, and will call out "holding the ball" at random intervals because it amuses her. She turned off the television half way through the final quarter of the grand final because it was getting a little tense.

                              funny post!

my ma professes no love for sport and hates its barbarity and then proceeds to scream profanities at the tv and encouraging the disemboweling of umpires and opposition players.

me think she really just fears herself!
