According to Tom Morris on SEN, Longmire had a falling out with Luke Parker this year which was a factor in his decision today. Not sure where he heard that from?

Trust that moron Morris to try to inject his name into the news cycle today.

Anyway, who cares? We're celebrating a great man, something little Tom will never be.

Ordinary article full of hearsay. Piss poor on the day he finishes up gracefully. Non story.

So, Longmire is quitting the Swans to get away from a player who's at North?

Ahh, Tom Morris, a beacon of integrity in sports journalism.....not. A typical southern journo who wants nothing more than throw a negative over a positive, to throw shade on a Northern club. Run along Tom.

Feels really sad seeing John retire today after the grand final lost. He deserved to go out with a bang, instead of a whimper that was shown on GF day.

But he'll go down as one of the most successful AFL coaches of all time - ranking 5th or 6th for win loss ratio over 150 games.

I was never sure about him as a tactician but I always admired his connection to the players and how hard he tried to make the Swans a great club and institution.

I do hope Tom Morris will get to listen to Horse's talk to the players and publicly retract some of his suppositions! Horse's speech to them had me shedding a tear too. Great that he is sticking around.

Personally I’m very happy he’s remaining with the club.
Looking forward to seeing what Dean Cox brings to the role.
Totally agree with all that Kafka- confident in this transition as Coxy looks the part. Now to extend Chad and we’re looking good for next year.

He couldn't care less lol. Just happy to stir nonsense for the sake of it. There probably is an element of truth in some form of unhappiness between Parker and Longmire - but I suspect its not some cavernous fall out as suggested by his dribbling, and if it was - then it says as much about Parker as it says about Longmire. A senior player at the stage of his career he is at should recognise nothing is guaranteed in footy.

It will now be interesting who Cox brings in to add to his coaching crew. Jared McVeigh is now the Reserves Coach as well. So maybe 2 vacancies

I thought the same thing, deja! Why would Horse quit because of a dispute with a player who is no longer at the club?

Genuine decency and honesty is often quite moving these days.

How lucky we've been to have such a man lead our club for so long.

John has been a colossal leader. He is clearly has enormous compassion and cares deeply for the players; also, for the club and its people. He also works incredibly hard work and has pushed to do his job as well as he can for a long time. He has maintained such a high standard. He is one of the giants of the club and we all owe him a lot.

Moving press conference. It also demonstrated that the timing is right. John does look exhausted - unsurprising given the weight of everything. He pushed to get the most out of himself all of the time. I think last year took a massive toll.

Dean seems ready to go. It's interesting that he's aspired to this from the start. He spoke very well about John, but it was also notable said he would make changes. I have been impressed with the best and pieces I have seen of him in press conferences and with the players, and again today. It's interesting that John only decided last week and the announcement is after the start of pre-season. A bit tight, and some assistant coaching positions to fill. I think Dean can handle it and am really looking forward to seeing what he can do.
