Bit of a shame for Francis, as he's played the occasional quality game and is good depth. Though being good depth is often not enough to hold a list spot. Not really surprised with Leidler. Looked a bit better later in the season, when given a chance as a small forward. But he was signed as a small defender and I don't really recall him doing a decent shut down job on any small forwards.
Those delistings mean that we've taken two off the main list and four off the rookie list. Which means someone else has to go from the main list. Could mean demoting a veteran to the rookie list. Can we demote Adams, even if he has a year to go on his contract? Or it could mean trading away a player or two? Or it could mean delisting someone who doesn't really deserve to be delisted?Comment

I think we may be looking to trade a player or two. Probably trying to give ourselves a decent amount of flexibility in terms of the academy boys too - while a couple clearly will end up on the main list, a couple may end up being rookie selections.

Someone on X social has posted that McLean and Ladhams are gong to Carlton (not sure if its part of the Curnow deal) + Rowbottom will be going to the Suns.Comment

Geelong's salary sombrero allows them to do this.

Trade talks gather pace as 13 clubs meet in Melbourne (afl.com.au). Light on details (and nothing involving Sydney) but has a summary of some free agency moves that have already been announced.
Clubs not in attendance: Fremantle, GWS Giants, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Western Bulldogs."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Mclean is our best "surplus" value at the Trade Table
Ladhams is OOC and wasn't playing so I can see that
Rowy is interesting, while he can be seen as heart and soul, Gus has shifted him from the mids and JJ is better 2 way.
He doesn't get enough of it as a mid and I'm not sure where else he is suitedComment

Surely Hambling will be gone from the list. And all the rest of unsigned will be resigned . Or traded!!!! I don't mind Lloyd being let go. And Rampe is not what was for the last few years. Don't know what will happen with Ladhams. But Buller needs to be signed for depthComment

Ladhams is needed as backup to Brodie- we don’t have anyone else at this stage. Buller needs to be signed of course, but Lloydy is cooked.

So being about the best tackler in the comp counts for nothing. His work at around the ground stoppages has always been good. He is our best in and under player yet Cox moved him to the HFF. But he has done that with Warner and I suspect this is to stay within the 75 rotations a game. Rowbottom is a keeper. WE need his hardness and competitive game at the coal face. He is still better than Sheldrick who's disposal lets him down too often.
