for the first 8 piks > If 4 teams have 2 picks each and both picks are are two in a row for each team x 4 doesn’t that mean they can cherry pick what they want?

which makes it really tricky to evaluate who will be taken in those first 8 and therefore creates a reasonable of uncertainty on who will be chosen in that too8

therefore if we had a player in mind that makes it even harder to guess if we will have access to who we would want to draft?

or is that far from true vs draft where the top 8 picks are spread more evenly amongst clubs ?

It seems like Curnow will cost pick 11, our future first pick and at least Oliver Florent and possibly Will Hayward too. That is quite a cost. I do like the idea of Curnow taking the number one defender leaving Amartey and McDonald on defenders 2 and 3, and I think we would be able to cover the contribution of Florent and Hayward, but we really are pricing ourselves out of the next two drafts (the following draft being the "Tasmania" draft, where they will hoover up the best talent). It's all in. And I'm a little uncertain about it.

If we focus on the Academy it may not be an issue.

I think if Ollie goes it will be a 3rd club and not to Carlton.

Hayward would be a loss as I think he would thrive playing alongside multiple talls.

If they are out hopefully Datolli, Cleary, Bice, Corey and these Academy Kids are ahead of Lloyd and Adams.

I'd still look at Mclean and Hannily out for a KPD

McLean certainly becomes surplus if Curnow comes in, and with the removal of the sub. Not sure he would hold much value, although we do need to find something to complete the move for Jai Serong. Perhaps that will be whatever we get for Buller (who I am disappointed to lose, I thought he started to show some really good signs).

I like to think we can focus on the academy, but the AFL has made that harder with the changes to the value of draft selections. No doubt they will make it harder still, even if Tom Harley is there to put in a good word or two about them. Historically our sweet spot in the draft seems to be about pick 40, so we might have to find a few gems around that number if we don't have picks at the top of the order.

I'd like to see something from Bowman as well as the others you mentioned.

Pay attention folks to the other trades being completed. Good established players getting traded for quite modest picks. Our fringe players have little to no useful trade value.

Buller might get us something late 40s/50s, the rest of players suggested as outs are no value.

I'm worried about the Curnow trade, Two firsts, Ollie and Will is a lot to let go. It could be a stroke of recruiting genius or could hurt us for multiple future seasons.

I know he hasn't pulled on a boot yet but JUH getting to GC for an empty chips packet! Clarry off to GWS for similar, GWS do this all the time, Hogan, Stringer now Clarry.

              Petracca an intriguing watch

We'll find out all by tomorrow evening .........

bare with me this is a long post. I have thought long and hard about it
I am still dead against the Curno move, not sure if we are #1 in his mind, Hating telling contracted players with 2 in contention for this trade (Hayward and Florent having contracts until 2029
being signed recently (I think this year) so whats changed. Its not good for morale and what will future signings and draftees say, "cant trust SS with contracts, they mean nothing , not worth the paper
                they are wriiten on"
Reagarding Cox him self, a great ruckman maybe the best of his time, but as a coach questionable with this going on and on his role in 2024r draft when he picked a small forward (jesse datoli) with our first pick
when we desparately needed (as still do) a key defender and there were a few available to us at our pick. I know we eventually picked up Riak Andrews who seems to have done nothing in under age football and just because his brother appears to be astar in the making it doe not mean he too will be the same. Remember that he has kept Joel Hamling on the list and I ask is he the key defender we need to help Tom McCartin who Cox stubbenly tried to convert into a forward and took a while to accept that his best postion now is down back. He has not yet announced what is happening with Dane Rampe who may be nearing the end of his carreer but who has been a fine defender. Maybe he will be delisted as well as jake Lloyd who is also not mentioned and both may be redrafted as rookies.

Its not necessarily forwards we need although Curnow would/may help, BUT remember 2024 and although we did not win the premiership we finished on top by a fair way with the forwards we have on our list and maybe with a few assute signings of defenders like Jai Serong and a good run with injuries we MAY be able to repeat 2024 but with a win in that last day in September.

If we can draft a young defender (like say Blake Thurgold from Sturt who seems to be rated fairly high as a key defender plus using our other pre Curnow picks on our Academy boys one of who was an U18 AA,
another a fine fwd/mid with geat athletic ability and another as a running half back (with another as a fwd) and not by pass them as we did with Joel Cochran (a defender) who we passed on last year and let him slide to the Pies. I know he did not play a game with the pies but maybe he will in his second year you need to give them time. But our academy costs us plenty of dough so I say use them or loose them and
                save heaps of money.

Finally is ask is Cox trying to ptove he has it as a Coach by getting Curnow and forgetting about what the Swans stand for. Sticking together and maybe if Curnow comes the team ethos will be forgotten about and it will be lets play for ourselves, let Curnow do it all .

Remember it takes 22 committed players to win on the ground as gerard healy has said on the Trade Trakcer "the fabric of the swans may be threatened"

I have tried to follow suggestions that a fellow red and white member gave to me in a previuos post , hope i have achieved what he wanted.

Not fussed on picks as long as we get our Academy.

Only way landing Curnow works is if Logan goes swingman, as he looks to be the only one of our talls capable to go back.

Said before, pushing guys with 5yr deals is not good business but...... Ollie knows he is on the outer and it sounds like Will to Carlton has been spoken about at length and honestly between player and club before now.

Good thing is alot of other players have not wanted to go.

Biggest risk in all of this is Curnows health, this goes pear shaped quickly if he can't get on the park

I love the idea of a Curnow / McDonald twin pairing. McLean as the third/support ruck. Amartey to the 2s.

Then the smalls go to work at their feet - Papley, Dattoli and a resting mid (if, as is likely, we lose Hayward and Florent).

                    I like it a lot.

I doubt Amartey will be in the 2s, I believe McLean and Ladhams will be fighting for the 2nd ruck position on 360 Cox indicated if the bench goes to 5 he would play a 2nd ruck
