There is no trick to their handball. It is a throw and the umpires know it is but ignore it

Time will whether we've made the right decision, but it does sends message to clubs we won't always match overs. The bids on Kyle & Carmichael have come earlier than exxpected, which we'll keep in the memory bank for the future.

We may end up doing a live pick depending on where bid for King lands and potentisl sliders.
We have a bad record on not matching Josh dunkley anyone

I wondered whether part of letting Hayward go related to the expectation of bringing King in.

Re stealing Carmichael, we'd know as well as anyone whether he's a pick 21. Having said that, the Bulldogs had less to lose than us at that pick.

            There’s a reason I put handballing in quote/unquote.

Like most Swans supporters a bit peeved in losing Carmicheal. But after giving away draft picks for Curnow, some pain had to come our way. A little bit surprise we rated Kyle so highly. A youngster who spent most of his junior career playing Rugby and was a late convert to AFL. I believe the last player like that was... Isaac Heeney! Yes I believe the history of Isaac Heeney had a big influence on their decision. Hoping they find a way of securing King tomorrow night.

A tactic i saw developing tonight, is if a club makes a bid on a academy player earlier than expected which weakens the hand of the club with remaining academy prospects, other clubs will cone in like sharks by also making challenging bida.

GWS started the ball rolling by jumping the queue a few spots to bid on Kyle at 14. They would've seen our initial hand improving as a result of the matching bids in the top 10. We'll keep this in the memory bank, particularly being initiated from a fellow Northern club.

GC decided to match all their bids, but they were all highly rated and not sure if they've gone into deficit.

Noticed Essendon also decided not to match bid on their NGA at pick 25.

Wait and see what happens tomorrow night before making a couch potatoe analysis on how we've fared, but time will be the final judge, particularly with the Curnow trade.

GC had 7 picks going into tonight so had more ability to match bids.

Just looked at Harry's highlights on the Swans app. He looks a natural and hard to believe he has only been playing the game for 18 months. He knows where to run, knows where his team mates are, has very good up ground vision and good second efforts. Very good disposal and lowers his eyes when delivering the footy. Very athletic. He fits onto our running style. Could be anything. Could he be our next Alex Johnson who played half back in his first season.

Chris Keane sees Kyle as a future midfielder in hia post draft night nterview. They decided not to match bid on Carmichael as they want to avoid going into points deficit next year and not jepordise potential selections tomorrow night.

very disappointing, carmichael allies mvp, under 18 aa,rookie me strengths competiveness, consistency, decision making, kicking, intereting and rebounding and much more. what else could u ask of him, has also dabled in mid field role . A member of academy for a number of years. bUt HEY he isnt a small fwd we probable used Rocas trade from GC which could have covered LC. Defence has been our weakness, A rampes clone he was for sure..
I hope the swans dont advertise/ask for money for foundation and academy, I dont think they consider the academy as much as they should. intersting to see what happens with king.
I have not been so disappointed in the Swans since the year Eade was pushed and he should have been, Thats when we looked on the up.
I also say Cox is going to need a Premiership next year our else. Getting rid of 2 well like and good players for Curnow who could be suseptable to injury. Blues supporters I know are happy hes gone,
A member for over 70 years (now 80 yrs old) with family ties to Sth, my membership for next year is now not certain. I know some might say that seak, but I have lived thru a lot with the Bloods.

So Chris Keane very excited by the players available between 25-35 ie our pick 35 being next cab off the rank

Kyle already moves a lot like Jordan Dawson but more so a Jordan Dawson 3 years at the club level off HBF

for my Harry looks a long way ahead for an 18yr old and faster than Jordan

Kyle could be be a starter in 2026 season which is pretty exciting

fuirther comments to above. Agree with Dow and Wolftone57. 'serong all over again! Future leader, seriuosly the recruting at this club)
Lachlan, although I aint seen him play every thing I have read reminds me of Callum Mills except the opposite> Mills from wing to defence lachlan from defence with room to move to inside mid.

Another comment / How come the Lions and Suns can accomodate their academy players . I know, the Curnow and Rocas jnr trades stuffed us. Agree Recruitment team and Cox leave a lot to be desired.
Curnow although he will be a help mainly in his goal kicking compared to Amartey has had injury problems and Rocas we needed another small forward (i dont think so) with what we already have. Hanily , dattoli ,
papley and perhaps you could classify Cleary here as well.

Not a chance he starts he’s extremely raw, he will take time he needs to find consistency he doesn’t get a lot of ball and struggles to win his own as you can see in his highlights he needs to develop those 2 parts of his game. His allies appearances this year were telling. Look forward to seeing if he can put it altogether who doesn’t enjoy a good rugby convert story )
