So my count is 9 delistings and traded in total, 4 Draft picks, 2 relisted and 2 Cat B rookies added making 8. So we have 1 less than last season. Can we add extra one on Monday?

            Well that was an interesting finish. We managed to get a couple of old blokes but not bad footballers;

            Rampe
            Lloyd

            Then we pre-listed

            Noah Chamberlain (Swans Academy)

            191cm Wing/forward

            Liam Hetherton Murray Bushrangers

            198cm Key Forward

He spent 2025 with a back injury. But our Medicos would have tested that and they have been able to treat long term injuries in the past. He was considered top end talent before his back injury. Rated Top 10.

Yeah, was just going to post about Hetherton. I think McNamara was a bit unlucky, but Hetherton seems like a genuine KPF prospect.

Murray Bushrangers spearhead Liam Hetherton had his year cut short by injury, but showcased great mobility and scoreboard impact.

Just watched Liam Hetherton's highlight reel. Big strong mobile lad, who shows potential. Nice replacement for Buller.

I think all in all quite a good trade and draft period with the only one major disappointment being not taking Carmichael (I wait to see in the future if it was a miss or not) - now brong on the preseason

So what has Curnow really cost us? I'm thinking we got a good deal, we weren't giving up pointy end picks like Suns did for Petracca. The cost is -

Will Hayward who has been a whipping boy for some posters on a couple of sites. Florent wasn't part of the trade and had fallen out of favour anyway.

This years fist rounder which drifted out to pick 16 would have been swallowed largely by the GWS bid on Kyle at pick 14.

The 2026 first rounder, with a good year next season and compo picks and early bid matching it could be a pick in the early to mid 20's

The 2027 first rounder diluted by all the usual stuff plus seven Tasmanian start up early picks so likely ends up a late 20's pick

Got back some later picks but not certain on which ones in which year's draft.

Then we've had a potentially outstanding draft, some exciting players selected.

Very happy with our trade and draft work. Only Dodoro could have done better LOL Wonder what he's up to now having burned all his Essendon bridges on the way out!

BTW - I haven't watched all the two nights on normal speed yet but thought the draft coverage was cow manure. Not telling us which player was up for bid matching, no indication as to what picks a club had burned in matching, no update of what picks clubs held after bids were matched, lack of internet in NSW so players couldn't be interviewed after they were picked. Very poor coverage for keen draft followers IMO

I agree, all of these were rubbish. I would add that pick swaps were shown, but they just said year and round. There was no indication at all of what the picks were. Even though the pick numbers will change as the draft progresses, stating that a 2025 2nd-round pick was swapped is not enough information.

I think more detailed information was kept suppressed for a rea$on. A pay TV network was covering the draft, and no doubt they wanted to keep as much of the best information and coverage for themselves.

Great post. Hard agree. I think Keane is good.

Agree with you on Will Green and am sure he will get an opportunity during the season.
Cannot agree with you on McLean in the defence, he is simply not mobile enough when the ball hits the ground.

Yeah, I agree mcs. There does seem to be a pattern forming here from some usual suspects. Extremely negative keyboard experts with little faith, big crystal balls and huge ego's.

Future picks for Sydney as they currently stand (first four rounds):

                                2026

                                Second-round pick
                                Third-round pick (Carlton)
                                Third-round pick (Collingwood)
                                Fourth-round pick (Hawthorn)

                                2027

                                Second-round pick
                                Second-round pick (Carlton)
                                Third-round pick
                                Fourth-round pick

Yes, the Curnow trade cleaned out three first-round picks, but some picks came back as well. The draft hand for 2027 would look fairly solid if Sydney finishes several places higher on the ladder than Carlton in 2027.

Gold Coast is worse off next year. After matching several Academy players in the first round of this year's draft, they have cleaned out all the picks they've been rolling into future drafts since about 2019 and their pick cupboard is bare. Their first three picks next year are: 2026 fourth-round pick, 2026 fifth-round pick, 2026 fifth-round pick (tied to Richmond).

Gold Coast and Sydney are the two clubs without a first-round pick in next year's draft.
