After continuing to look pretty terrible for the first ten minutes, we made a decent comeback, to be behind 39-33 at the half. The highlight of the quarter was Dattoli evading his pursuers deep in the right pocket and then snapping it through in a strong breeze. Another highlight was Podmore-Taylor taking a strong contested mark and converting his set shot.

Mitchell has been busy in the backline, although his disposal can be a bit dodgy. But it is better than Paton: who seems to now have the tactic, of picking out the tallest opposition player in the vicinity and then kicking it to them. Cleary and Florent starting to assert a bit of influence. Bowman did a few nice things in the second part of that quarter. Green has been useful. Shipley his usual willing self.

Fox hasn't been seen yet. So hopefully he can come on after half time and tidy up our disposals out of defence.

Good Summary. That was a incredible goal from Dattoli, at least he can kick a ball, Like Will Green in the ruck especially that goal from 50 meters , remembering he is only 19 yrs old. Caleb Mitchell close to best on ground. Scoreboard making us look OK. Richmond has missed many easy goals.

Yes, Green has done well today. I also thought that Podmore-Taylor did well when he gave Green a chop out. He seemed to have the better of Colina and then went forward and took a strong grab.

In the end, Green turned out to be a big positive from that game. It's the best I've seen him play.

The best you can say about the rest is that they somewhat improved as the game went out. Cleary seemed very quiet early but worked into it. Not quite the kind of game that's going to see him immediately regain his senior spot. It's hard to judge Bowman and Dattoli given how little system there was bringing the ball forward, but Bowman took his chances well (and Dattoli kicked a freak).

I thought Shipley and Edwards were down on their normal contributions, both in quantity and quality of the disposals.

          HPT's was an intriguing cameo.

Certainly alot better showing this week, a few senior players back make a difference - 100 percent thats the best Green has played since last year !

Watched a bit of the VFL and once again Shipley played another great game. He does this week in week out. Always in our best 2-3 players. I would like to start a petition or something similar that he is promoted onto our AFL list. He is still only 25 yrs old and deserves another chance. Does anyone agree? Does anyone have the best email address to send this to?

Yes, I was starting to worry a bit about Green. In that, I was wondering if he was tracking as another problematic first round pick. But yesterday's performance suggests that he is going to make it. I liked the contested marks that he took and he seemed to be a bit more effective in harassing the opposition mids. All up, a strong game from someone who's still only nineteen.

I was also pleased with Podmore-Taylor. I thought he was a raw, but genuine ruck prospect, in his draft year. Then even though his stats improved in his overage academy season, I was a little disappointed that he didn't improve more. My major concern was that he either didn't judge the flight of the ball well, or he just had hard hands. In that, especially when playing forward, he dropped plenty of marks that he probably should have taken. Yesterday's effort, and the previous game, where he took a number of intercept marks, suggests that problem may be behind him. The fact that he's 200cm, is quick, has a high leap and can kick straight, suggests that he could have the making of a worthwhile ruck/forward. I hope he's not shunted out of the team, when Amartey and Ladhams return.

With Fox being ruled out this week due to concussion protocols, I'm wondering if the club has copped a fine from this game? In that, within a minute or two of taking the field after half time, he had the ball kicked into his head from close range. When he managed to raise himself off the ground, he was obviously very wobbly on his feet. However, I don't think he went off for a HIA, but instead continued to play on. And I don't recall the commentator mentioning him spending an extended period on the bench. So now with him missing this week, that suggests that the blow was severe enough for him to be taken off the ground. Which as far as I could tell, didn't happen.

This week's VFl game is against Southport. They are second on the ladder. Since their 3-point loss to Williamstown (9th on the ladder) and then a draw against Port Melbourne (16th) they have beaten Casey Demons (7th) by 41 points, Frankston (14th) by 40, Northern Bullants (21st and last) by 109 and Sandringham (19th) by 65 points. I am not optimistic about avoiding a loss by six goals or more.
