    FT: Swans win 11.5 - 14.15
Good win in the end, Giants very competitive in the second half.
I've not seen Mcnamara play before and am very impressed - sound all round skills, a bigger body and a good kick for goal.

Kyle was a little quiet,, but the other four academy boys all looked quite comfortable at this level, including Chamberlain who some had "written off" as a draft prospect after struggling to impact much at the U18s.

It was actually an entertaining game. I'm not sure I totally agree with the assessment that the Swans went to sleep in the third quarter. We did as much attacking as the Giants, but just couldn't convert. I thought most players made some good contributions and most had moments they would rather have back. Bice was prominent in defence and probably as much of the conductor as Fox was (notwithstanding that Fox had a reasonable game too).

I do enjoy these commentators commentating on Ladhams, always entertaining.

And a question for the VFL boffs - does anyone know where BOC is this season? Is he still with the Giants (but injured today) or has he moved on to different pastures?

Should have been 10 blokes ahead of him

BOC left the Giants last year. Last I saw he was playing in the Sydney local league. Manly I think.

He was good in last weekend's U17 match against GWS. But I thought there was a combined Swans/Giants U17 team playing this weekend against a Vic outfit. He'd be close to first picked for that. Maybe it's not this weekend.

Edit: I've just checked, and the next U17 game isn't until next weekend.

I see that all four of our U18 academy prospects are missing from the VFL side. Do they have other commitments? Is there a limit on how many VFL games U18s can play? I can't imagine they've been omitted for form/talent given who has come into the team.

The team sheets on the AFL site say that they're all unavailable, but they don't say why. Anyway, this is the team. It'll be interesting to see how McCartney goes.

No idea of the reason, but snuck a quick look at some of the AFL Sydney sides, and spotted Carmichael in the North Shore half-forward line

Weather permitting I was hoping to go along to the VFL game tomorrow to see first hand how the academy players performed. Cannot understand why they are not playing, does anyone know?

I think we're seeing what having a large advantage in AFL listed players means.

                            Q1: 7.3 v 0.3
This is a very lopsided match - Swans dominating all over the ground. Essendon 7 AFL listed players vs. our 13.
Might switch to the AFLW practice match...

In round 7 they smashed us by 65 points, we had 10 listed players to their 13. Injuries make such a difference.

                                HT: 10.5 v 4.6
Bombers improved and were kicking with the wind. A number of Swans appeared to struggle when kicking for goal, so it must be a fair breeze.
