That's perhaps a little overstated, but admittedly I've made no secret of my liking for young Shaw's play. I'm just glad there seems to be some recognition coming from the selectors.
Although if it's a wet night we're likely to see Jolly rucking with assistyance from Goodes, LRT etc. rather than a surprise inclusion.
Originally posted by stellation I'm pretty sure that article was more suggesting Vogels may have to look for opportunities elsewhere as he should be a first team player.
Thats right, my wording was probably not quite clear.
Originally posted by dendol a better comparison would have been chambers vs everitt, or richards vs vogels for a spot next year.
Yep, that's a good call. I would rather see Spider up in Sydney even if for only two years. I think Ted has the goods, but I'm at a loss to explain why he isn't producing the needed form.

If playing a 21 year old is a "non youth development program", then presumably you oppose wasting game time on past-it never-will-bes like Malceski (21), Vogels (23) or McVeigh (21). And you're a bit concerned that Moore, Schmidt, Willoughby, Ericksen, Matt Davis and Grundy (all 20) are nearing being a bit too long in the tooth.
Let's face it, if we're not exclusively selecting teenagers-- Shaw, Brabazon, Thornton and Laidlaw-- when senior players get dropped, we have no youth development program at all.
Schmidt gets 62 , repeat 62, you want me to say that again, 62, and still cant get a game.
Apparently Schmidt is injured, repeat injured, e.g. unavailable for selection.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver. The Scarlatti Tilt - Richard Brautigan

I imagine this piece of news (although warranted) should bring more joy to some posters than winning the 2005 flag did. There ought to be a few in a constant state of arousal this weekend.

Genius.
Simon,
Maybe I would have been better off calling it a "development program".
McVeigh could hardly be seen as a development player, Malceski has already shown that he can play as has Vogels. Bevan as most people on RWO said was the luckest man on GF day. His season was really very ordinary at best. My point here is give one of Moore,Schmidt or Willoughby a go as a replacement for Mathews because none of these blokes have had a taste of development in the ones. They sure as hell are not going to the next level in the ACT.
Why not rest MOL and put Grundy at FF? He couldn't kick any more crooked.
Young footballers will never get a look in when seniors who are playing poorly are never dropped. These are the first wholesale (3 is hardly wholesale) changes for a season. If they have to wait that long again we will have plenty of draft fodder come season's end.
By the way, mate, thanks for the genius bit. It is nice to get some praise every now and then for my incisive comments. You can be assured when you eventually come up with some comments worthy of such praise I will reciprocate.
Liz, factually you are wrong. I forgave Schneider in the second half of last season when he had finally extracted the digit. Happy to retract if I get the odd thing wrong. However, I find it hard to see a backflip from Bevo with any consistency to elevate him above anything more than a "battler" tag.
It seems somebody heard my pleas last week to send Richards back to the Bombers. He?s been undeservingly keeping Luke out of the team for weeks, very pleased this change has finally been made.
Chambers had 12 weeks to present his case and failed miserably.
To those bagging Bevan ? on what I have seen in the two?s (precious little lately) his kicking seems greatly improved. Mathews can apply for the Tullibigeal captain coach job.
Going in with two ruckman is very much Roos? stated policy, even with the opposition only having one. With ?the Duke? Earl Shaw as an emergency I would reckon there may be a possibility of another late withdrawal. (probably wishful thinking)

Out: Willo
In: Moore?
Or Even
Out: MOL
In: Grundy?
I think Willo might make sense.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
