Very good, I hadn't seen "Capt'n Smirk" before.

It was a bit of a brain snap at 2am on Sat morning trying to use up the extra bit of material.

I think someone would recall this. I'm sure you're mixing this up with his admiration of the lions when he took over the role.

Look I don't believe Roos would look back at his own performance in the past couple of weeks as his finest hour but clearly he has had many issues with Davis prior to his dropping.

The argument about other players playing while not fully fit does not hold water, as I'm sure every team in the league plays players every week who are not 100%.

This article from pre-season gives a great insight into Nick Davis and his character. Interestingly then Roos said he still had a long way to go in terms of his attitude. I don't think Roos has been inconsistent in his approach to Davis at all.

I'm sorry but I've read almost all the articles on the Swans including the fluffy crap spouted by the official site and I don't even recall anything remotely backing your claim. Perhaps you're confusing it with Roosy's statement that he doesn't see himself as a career coach and wouldn't be coaching for the rest of his life.

I don't remember reading the article either but since Roos is a Royboy deep down, who could blame him if he wanted to coach the Lions?

There is an article out there. I am sure of it. Oh well doesnt change my perception of Roos and a few boys atm. I still think they being even more childish than Davis ever was.

Roos should take another leaf out of the lions set up and follow matthews and STFU!

I'll support the coaches on this one thank you! I see no inconsistency in Roos' actions or comments at all. His media performances have never changed. He says nothing and gives nothing away. He's very good and has been since he was appointed.

Port will have plans for Davis and no Davis. This whole monkeying around with team announcements is way overvalued.
I agree that it's overvalued but why bother with even doing it for Chocko and the Chokers. Apart from getting to Tasmania, did they plan the game against the Saints?

I support Roos too. By referring to 'form and fitness' he is smoothing the way for Nick to return. Clearly the fundamental problem is Nick's attitude, but would you really prefer Roos to say that? The same people who criticise Roos for being hypocritical would jump on his back for inflaming the situation. When Nick's attitude is right, he will demonstrate it with improved form (i.e. working hard off the ball) and fitness (i.e. he'll lose some weight). Unfortunately he may have to do this over a sustained period to win his place back. Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later.

With all this willing support for a known liar, it's no wonder Howard has been in office so long.

I've heard Roos interviewed on radio several times re. his coaching future and he's basically given the impression that he doesn't regard himself as a career coach and he's not partial to coaching outside of Sydney. He obviously still has some affection for the Lions (Fitzroy connection), but I understand the affiliation stretches no further than a strong friendship with Lynch. But for that matter he's also close to Gary Pert who's on Collingwood's board.

I think there have been inconsistencies in his approach to dealing with the Davis issue and today's article strikes of a bit of back pedalling. In the past I would have agreed with you that he says heaps but tells nothing (typical politician's way of answering questions).
I previously liked the way he didn't lambast players in the media but I think he has had a distinctly different approach with Davis. I don't have any insider knowledge but it does seem to be a personality issue. As I alluded to in a previous (now missing post) other coaches have had much more difficult players to deal with and have put their feelings aside (just look at George Best for example do you think the coach was happy he turned up straight from a nightclub and was probably still drunk?)

I'm sure everyone knows I don't have sympathy for Davis, and I couldn't care less if he ever gets back in. Paul Roos has been outstanding during this issue and it should be recognised. Davis is lucky that he isn't in the same boat as Akermanis where he has been told to piss off entirely. A lot of you need to realise that Roos isn't alone when it comes to an issue with Davis. There are at least half a dozen senior players who don't want him in the side as well. You are all reacting and sooking in the same manner as he is. Roos is cleverly using semantics to explain his non selection. He says he hasn't got the fitness required - a clever way of saying that his mental fitness isn't up to scratch.

Name them, and tell us why.

And though I did not quote it, explain how the Davis situation is anything like the Akermanis one - other than the situation of egotistical coaches cutting off their talented noses to spite their ugly faces.
