Shame that this whole issues has tarnished what should be our proudest year in being reigning premiers.

And Dr J i read one word of your vitrol and just skipped it thank you very much.

Enjoy the 2005 flag people. Thats the only one we are going to win for a loooooooooooong time as long as Kikrky and the gang are around with their selfish attitudes.
This issue has not tarnished the club what so ever, the media in Melbourne had a small go at it at the start but soon realised it was a non story and has largely ignored it since.

The only people going into hyperbole over this one is this board who seem to think that this type of issue and how it has been dealt with never happens at a football club.

    Get over it.

Facts are Roos is the coach (a succesfull one to boot) and he sets the rules. He has placed his trust in a system which provides the leadership group the opportunity to set team goals and how they go about reaching those. Someone in the eyes of this leadership group has gone outside of those rules for various reasons and has lost the trust of the playing group.

A committed, desperate, hungry Nick Davis is clearly in our best 22

A lazy, petulant, disruptive Nick Davis is not in our best 22 and nor should he be for the sake of where this club needs to go in the future.

A lot of people would disagree with that last statement. A lazy, petulant, N.Davis is better than Phillips, Matthews, Fosdike, Kirk (in present form) in a lot of peoples opinion.
How that effects the team is a measure of its professionalism. If every player went out there to do their job, choose the best option in a truely professional manner, personalities dont come into it, and the disruptive influence of N.Davis is nullified.

Are we prepared to not have a shot at the premiership this year just to penalise N.Davis ?
Because if we lose to Port by less than a couple of goals without N.Davis then our season is shot.

If its a non-issue, then why is Paul Roos up until this week still going on about it. Thats 2 weeks he hasnt let it rest.

Barry your argument has many merits, but the team view and that of other coaches and pundits is that it was the "Bloods Spirit" that carried us to glory last year, and that the Swans had the best team ethic in the comp.

If they are to be strict to this mantra, it leaves little room for those who don't desire to operate within that environment.

I posted this earlier in this thread, but this pre-season article while acknowledging Davis' role in the finals paints a big question by both player and coach as to his ethic. It appears he has been on notice from the beginning of the year and Davis' acknowledges that

The sad thing for me from this article is the number of people who have coached Davis, who he actually names continually ask him "have you ever thought about how good you possibly could be?" He lists John Longmire, Ross Lyon, Daryn Cresswwll and Dean laidley, Tony Shaw as individuals who have all reminded him of what he could be.

Have a read of the article, great insight, but sad and unfulfilling too.

I do believe that this latest issue is a last effort by Roos to really focus him and realise what he has to do to really fufill his potential

He may not want to be a superstar. He may not be prepared to make the sacrifices to be a superstar ?

Maybe he just wants to be a good player with a balanced lifestyle.

For example, get to middle management in any large company and your options are laid out clearly in front of you.
You can become upper management, CEO, but you'll need to devote yourself to the company, probably ruin your marraige, never know your kids, work 60 hour weeks, travel all over the world/country, and grow fat on "power lunches".
Most people dont take that option. Is that failure ?

If he doesn't want to do the extra things required to be his very best, fine. But he does have to meet certain minimum requirements - like controlling his weight and working hard off the ball.

But he leads and runs like a bum chasing a $100 note in the wind and no one passes it to him.

From the players' comments, I think the problem is when the opposition have the ball.

He's 12th in the team for tackles, so there are some worse than him.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The Bloods metric is not the number of tackles performed, it's the distance run in the chase.
