Davis has been listed as an emergency for the senior side, though club officials were adamant he would not travel interstate with the team.

Before training, Roos said Davis would not be taken to Geelong as an emergency player if he missed out on the senior side as he still needed to play matches.

I'm guessing Vogels will be the travelling emergency.

He is not known for his second efforts although to be fair he does from time to time make big efforts. Just not often enough. He is not a high mark and is usually a low possession winner

14th in the side for possessions. There are no particularly high possession-getters in our side. He's only 2ppg from 6th place.

that just happens to be an excellent kick for goal. However even his goal kicking dropped off this season. When he is not kicking goals he isn't worth a spot.

He's 4th in goals per game.

To win his spot back who should he replace? Nick is a half forward so Grundy is the logical one to go. But will Nick do more than Grundy? The selectors don't think so. No good dropping Bevan as Nick has no track record as a tagging backman. Similar story re dropping a wingman or back flanker.

Given that J Bolton and Schneider were listed in the forward line last week, and Grundy played out of the pocket, there is plenty of space in our forward line. Given it's still not functioning as well as it should, some further change me be a good idea.

I have complete faith in the coach and selectors. Nick will get back when someone is injured or drops off in form. That is the way it should be IMO. He might think twice before he lowers his training and playing intensity next time.

You don't really know what happened or why. There is no reason also why you should have complete faith in them.

Yes, but that doesn't preclude putting in better players to further improve the team.

So a coach who delivers our first premiership in 7 decades is not worth our trust? I think I'd prefer that than to rely on raw statistics, which never tell the full story.

There is more to it than just the coach. Just think how close we were to not be able to say "our first premiership in 7 decades". Also, that doesn't preclude him from making mistakes. I wonder if statistics tell more of the full story than Roos does...

Crouch is in the top ten. He is number 1 in the whole comp for best looking therefor he goes straight in. Davis however obviously needs to rely on skill which i thought he had plenty of.

I am still trying to work out how number of tackles equates to forward line pressure, chasing your opponent or be willing to do the gut busting running to support the midfield and defence while then being a target going the other way.

Clearly Roos and the match committee would like Davis to play a similar role to O'Keefe who can push deep into defence and work over his opponent the other way.

O'Keefe dropped the extra kilos and improved his running capacity which the new rule changes demanded most players needed to do.

Instead Nick Davis came back from the off season heavier and in effect went backwards with his fitness from last year.

As far as I am concerned he was lucky to get a game earlier this year and probably only survived with the premiership credits the team built up last year.

This is not somthing that happened just 6 weeks ago, it was on the cards early and unfortunately for Roos it took him and the match committee a little too long to realise their mistake and cut him earlier.

I `ve got the great photo of the team on the GF podium as my desktop. Little Nicky on the far right with his left arm raised finger pointing to the sky looked really skinny(Fit). When the 2006 season started and I saw Little(Big) Nicky, I thought OH OH!! Not KFC again!
